Regular readers of my Pravda.Ru articles may have observed that I frequently promote the following three hypotheses: 1). That evil is the primary motivating force in human nature; 2). That even though human beings praise goodness with their words, they consistently produce, promote and reward evil with their deeds; 3). That human mortality ensures that the profits derived from doing evil shall not endure, and that those who turn away from evil will eventually be rewarded.
However, I also (…)

Failure Is Not an Option, But It Is a Possibility
19 December 2009 par (Open-Publishing)
By David Glenn Cox
These are dark days to be a Democrat and dark days to be a Republican and even darker days still to believe in democracy. When you state publicly that we live in a corporate oligarchy you are dismissed as naive, denigrated as cynical, or dissed and told, “Well, welcome to the real world.”
As I’ve watched the health care debate roll through Congress I‘ve carried a secret fear of a corporate bait and switch. One good thing added, one bad thing added, one good thing (…) -
Shame of America: Obama’s Distorted History

JAZZMAN CHRONICLES. DISSEMINATE FREELY.
By Jack Random
It is a great shame that in America we cannot criticize our nation without being painted in the colors of betrayal and treason by the self-righteous and self-proclaimed defenders of American pride. Yes, even those who only yesterday led the nation to the edge of economic collapse and left our reputation torn and tattered before the eyes of the world retain their hold on power by defining patriotism with unwavering praise and (…) -

WILL OBAMA’S SURGE WORK?
A Primer on the War in Afghanistan
John Chuckman
The most fundamental realities of the war in Afghanistan include the following.
The Taleban is not an invading guerilla force. The word "insurgents" nicely hides the fact that they are natives of the land we have invaded.
Moreover, they are a substantial portion of the population, not a small group.
And they attacked no one.
The 9/11 bunch were mainly Saudis, almost certainly on a (…) -

1 commentA RESPONSE TO HILLARY CLINTON’S ASSERTION THAT ALL NATIONS SHOULD PLAY A PART IN THE AFGHANISTAN MISSION

Hillary Clinton, in a just-published piece on the Afghanistan mission (see note at bottom), offers us nothing helpful or enlightening, only boiler-plate American slogans, the kind of stuff you’d hear from some provincial Congressman giving a Fourth of July speech in a place like Muncie, Indiana.
Indeed, her use of the question-begging word “mission” in the title to (…) -

Canada’s PM Stephen Harper: Deny Afghan Abuse/War Crimes
23 November 2009 par (Open-Publishing)

Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s office used a ’6000 mile screwdriver’ to oversee the denial of reports of Afghan detainee abuse when the scandal first erupted in 2007, according to a former senior NATO public affairs official...

I NOTICED TOO

1 commentTo the author of the Pravda.Ru article, “Yes We Noticed.”
For a person who seems to spend a great deal of time “noticing” things, how could you have missed the following?
Because we didn’t.
We noticed the idiocy of someone thinking that wearing a flag pin on one’s lapel is somehow synonymous with what one wears in their heart.
We noticed a blustering and inept George W. Bush telling Iraqi insurgents to “bring it on” from the safety of American soil, after using his family’s wealth (…) -

AUNG SAN SUU KYI, OMAR KHADR, AND BARACK OBAMA: A DREADFUL TALE OF WHAT AMERICA HAS BECOME
John Chuckman
During his trip to Asia, President Obama called for the government of Burma to release Aung San Suu Kyi, a noted dissident who has spent years under house arrest.
It made headlines, a fact which tells us more about the role of media as an outlet for government press releases than in communicating genuine news.
Obama’s was hardly a brave or innovative act when (…)
