Home > Hang on Sloopy! The Right Wing Diehards
Clinging desperately by their fingernails to the edge of the Bush/Cheney abyss, about 37% of the American electorate still profess their loyalty to the GOP, and especially and specifically to the current administration.
This is no easy task for them anymore, but you’ve got to give them credit for trying. The basic rationale given by these steadfast but dedicated individuals is that George Bush has "kept us safe",this despite the obvious and often mentioned weakness of our port security (pathetic), our nuclear and chemical plants, railroads, etc.
Another classic reason given is that Bush is a "Man of God". Even if true this seems a rather far fetched argument.
But the main thrust of the diehard support appears to be incapacity for intellectual focus. They refuse to listen to meaningful examples of Bush’s grotesque incompetence, and instead absorb the ramblings of Limbaugh, O’Reilly, Hannity, et al. There are those (I have just such a friend) who claim to consider all sides and points of view, but in the final analysis they spout the same Right Wing talking points which Karl Rove regularly disseminates to the loyalists. They are intractable and unmoveable. Like the Titanic captain,in the end they’ll be forced to go down with the sinking ship of State, or, hanging their heads in shame and remorse, come up into the light of truth.

Dumber than a sack of hammers.
Today there is no excuse for being this stupid. besides Drug Rush Limbaugh, Hannity, and Fox News Network, Americans have at their disposal (but for how long ?) an unlimited amount of credible (and of course incredible) news sources that would be out of reach as hard sopy. One example, the Christian Science Monitor (certainly not left radical) can be read on-line. Cable and Satellite carry Link TV. Newspapers like the Village Voice with columnists like Nat Hentoff are free with a dail-up internet account.
These Bush/Cheney right wing Bible thumping slopeheads are simpley fixated on Abortion, so-called "Family Values," home school, and fear politics. They can’t be shaken loose from their hibernation den. It is therefore up to the rest of us to squeeze out every vote, and message of truth and common sense to make up for these nit wits. Anyone who stays home on election day empowers another right wing idiot.

I think more and more Americans are no longer seeing problems in a so called "left right" paradigm and are starting to get wise to the ways of the maipulators who use wedge issues to keep people apart and to stop them from really discussing workable solutions. Our Constitution —the law that those leaders PLEDGE to uphold—(and one CHIEF who allegedly refers to the Bill of Rigths as a g-d piece of paper) really seem to be attacking the very Americans who they are sworn to protect.
If one wants any news worth reading IMO one almost has to also include sites that are NOT afraid to tell it like it is. Sites like rense.com and Alex Jones infowars add perspectives that the so called "left" mainstream won’t often touch. Cutting edge issues that draw many more readers in to explore broad band of across the board general interest topics. If the U.S. State Dept declares a site like rense.com as the NUMBER ONE DISINFO SITE on the net (as they did) then you can bet much of what’s there is accurate and things they would rather American’s forget about and the world not learn about.
While all sites will have things there that I may not agree with and excellent sites like rense.com may include stories along the UFO/ paranormal avenue to get in more and diverse readers, they also feature some types of more mainstream news such as the Christian Science Monitor (that you listed) as well occasionslly— when the mainstream actually has something of interest— like Reuters or MSNBC etc. But they also include commentray I can’t find anywhere else and voices from the intelligence and financial and medical and science etc. communites that share inside news and revelations found nowhere else. A veritable smorgasboard of truly thought provoking ideas and information. Open debate and discussion. Something so badly needed in a time like this, IMO.
