The Paris meeting on Iran, which the media dubbed "secret" because journalists were barred from it from start to finish, ended in failure as expected.
The positions of the sides remained the same. The United States wants the United Nations Security (…) -

6 commentsAKARTA (Reuters) - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad accused Western nations on Wednesday of hypocrisy and said their expressions of concern over nuclear programmes were a "big lie".

NEOCONMEN: Their Utopian Dream
9 May 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
There has been much published lately about the Neocons (Perle, Wolfowitz,Feith,Cristol et al) and their lamentable and abject failure to implement the P.N.A.C. scenario (Project for a New American Century). Don’t believe it. Their enthusiasm hasn’t waned, it’s just temporarily in limbo.
When one considers their dream it really is Utopian in a way, and absurdly optimistic in it’s aims and aspirations.
Did anybody really believe the dream? Yes! Here’s what they hoped would happen: (…) -
TABOO: The Questions Which Reporers Cannot Ask
7 May 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
2 commentsWhether its out of fear for their jobs or just the excercize of "diplomacy", there are meaningful and dynamic questions whiich the Press cannot ask of the Bush administration. Among them:
Will you please tell us why you won’t investigate HUGE government waste in the Pentagon (which "lost" over a trillion dollars!) and other departments? Surely at very least BILLIONS of dollars could be saved by so doing.
Why do our troops in Afghanistan and Iraq still have inadequate armor and food? (…) -
The Downing Street Memo Proves that Ray McGovern is Right ’the facts were fixed around the policy’

2 commentspublisher’s note: this is a repost from last year. When this came out last year, it really seemed that congress might finally act toward accountability however nothing has come of this information which proves that Ray Mcgovern is correct in calling Rumsfeld a liar. The entire administration lied repeatedly in the run up to war in Iraq and they are doing it again for Iran. The Downing Street Minutes Demand Action

Chinese scientists have said that a 2.5-million-square-kilometre ozone hole may be forming over the Tibetan plateau.
While it does not yet qualify as a regular ozone hole, like those over the two poles, the area has seen a large drop in ozone density in recent years, the Xinhua news agency said on Thursday, citing China’s Scientific Report journal. The decrease in ozone over the plateau was caused by atmospheric air movements (…) -

May 1 marks three years since President George W. Bush landed on the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln for a rally, choreographed by White House spin-doctors, to celebrate "Mission Accomplished" in the US war against Iraq. Organized military resistance by the regime of Saddam Hussein had collapsed. Fewer than 150 American soldiers (…) -

1 commentIraq: National Sovereignty and Military Occupation are not Compatible
By Prof. Ramzy Baroud
May 3, 2006
In a seemingly poignant analysis of the situation in Iraq, BBC news online analyst, Jim Muir assessed Iraqi politics following the choice of Jawad Al Maliki as prime minister designate.
Muir’s detailed analysis failed to even hint at the possibility that the unwarranted US-British military occupation of Iraq is at all a factor in the growing sectarian divide, the insurgency and the (…)
