7 August 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
7 commentsThe Veterans for Peace National Convention wraps up today at the University of Dallas in Irving, Texas.
Thursday and Friday saw the vets check-in, and attend workshops that varied from Stan Goff’s ‘Gender & Militarism’ to ‘Speaking Truth to Power’ which featured Ann Wright, Coleen Rowley, and Jesselyn Radack.
Friday night featured keynote speakers and entertainers at Lynch Hall, on campus. They all had great things to say, and Cindy Sheehan was no exception.
Here is what she had to (…) -

1 commentA Brief Dispatch from the 20th Annual Veterans for Peace Convention

Looking up from my plate, I take the vet’s direction and turn to see Sheehan standing on the grass, stage left, mixing (…) -

In Vermont, A Town-Meeting Revolt Over Iraq War
1 March 2005 par (Open-Publishing)

When the kindergarten teacher’s son returned from Iraq after 10 months, the potluck church dinner in his honor was so packed no one had room to sit. Only a handful of the more than 200,000 men and women who have been deployed to Iraq come from this sleepy whistle-stop. But everyone seems to know someone who has served, even died, there: a friend’s husband, a neighbor, the (…)
