Ka-Blam!, Ka-Boom! Gunshots rang out today in the Congress’ parking lot and all Hell broke loose!
Panic and turmoil! People running helter skelter, mass confusion and CNN right there on the scene.
For the next 4 hours CNN dutifully reported on this high priority story. It seems some unidentified man fired a gun somewhere,at someone or something for some reason. CNN managed to tell us that much at least.
Then came the banks of ambulances, City and State cops, and of course the elite Capitol police in their dress blues, toting all kinds of sophisticated paraphernalia like back packs and motion detectors, flashlights, shotguns, lasers and tasers and peanut butter sandwiches. The CNN cameras showed endless streams of spectators, politicians and various and sundry passing street people.
The cops spread out as trained, entered Congressional offices and hallways, poked around in closets, and searched stairwells, closets, elevators and crawlspaces. In the end they found nothing, nobody, zilch!
But there was one exciting note: One staffer flipped out from the suspense and was taken away for treatment.
Somehow the suspense passed me by. I did yawn a few more times than usual, though. That’s the power of CNN.
