Home > The Decline and Fall of the U.S.Reich
Although the "End Times" may not even be around the corner for the Middle East and the world at large, they certainly seem to be in the good old U.S. of A.!
As a nation, just over the last 5 years under the criminal Bush Administration, we’ve collapsed into a system which favors the rich over the poor, the healthy over the sick and cheap labor over the unions. We have the biggest per capita crime rate in the world (just recently I read we have 800,000 young gang members engaged in the drug trade, extortion, murder, rape, you name it) and the largest number of incarcerated criminals of any country!
The Bush government has begun tearing up the very Constitution which they claim is important to them, trashing the "Rule of Law" at every turn and downsizing government social programs while increasing funding for war and energy companies who favor nuclear plants and drilling in the Alaskan Wildlife Preserves (and offshore too!). Our government is tough on seniors as well. They’ve stopped prescription drugs from entering from Canada (to protect the Pharmaceutical companies) and are making it tougher every day to get affordable medical aid...in fact 45 million Americans are totally without medical insurance coverage.
Add to all of this a weak dollar, huge budget and trade deficits and constantly escalating war costs...and many experts say it’s only a matter of time before we collapse like a house of cards.
The United States is now the most despised country in the world. We accomplished this distinction by bombing the living crap our of Iraq, killing (one way or another), an estimated 250,000 civilians and destroying so much insfrastructure that there is no possible way we’ll ever rebuild it,even though we DID promise that from the beginning.
Halliburton, and Bechtel, Custer Battles and KBR are all contractors for security and reconstruction in Iraq who have raped the American taxpayer with overcharges and outright fraud...and have not paid the price except that now Halliburton is barrd from further profit taking.
In addition, the military industrial complex and it’s wide group of war profiteers throughout the world have been raking in endless amounts of hard cash since the whole mess began..They are not only part of the crimes of war, but also share responsibility for contributing to the widespread torture, abuse, rape and murder which have been occuring since the beginning.
When and if the "war" in Iraq is concluded (unlikely), and IF our troops ever manage to come home, they probably won’t be home for long since the Bushies (who will not doubt continue their offenses in an upcoming regime) will just send our young men and women off to some other "adventure" to risk life and limb not for democracy but for corporate greed...once again!
The future for our country is bleak indeed. We aren’t "liberators", we aren’t fostering "democracy" and we aren’t bringing peace or harmony or understanding to any part of the world....only more hatred.
Who will stop the rain?

The article I’ve just read about "The Decline And Fall of The U.S. Reich" is entirely on target! The goal of the Bushy administration is to increase the wealth of the filthy rich class (of which class he’s a top ranking member) while he reduces the income and political clout of the working class of Untermeschen down to the bare minimum possible. If this policy of GWB and the neocons is allowed to continue much longer the U.S. will be the same as a banana republic. The population of "citizens" will largely be simply peons who must strive mightily just to stay alive - with almost NiO chance to better themselves at all. This would place the scenario of the U.S. on equal footing with many so-called "democratic" nations - in which one person (1) out of several thousand (1000) is quite wealthy while all the others are "losers" on the edge of starvation. Then we’d also have here the same scenario we see occuring in lands not far south of our border. For example I’ve seen some photos of children scrounging for scraps of food in the trash piles of a large refuse dump near Mexico City. THAT is the identical scenario that the political folks of GWB’s ilk have planned for the REST of us citizens. To support that rotten agendy, they have people like Ann Coulter (barf!) who are producing all kinds of right-wing extremist propaganda. Also we have the Fox broadcast network which is regailing us with tremendous amounts of extremeist right-wing political nonsense too.
It’s impossible not to view this political DISINFORMATION assualt against the *truth* and against anyone who fails to suck-up their phony theories - as their way of making the wealthy class become the defacto dictators of the U.S. We have even had the recent bizaar claim by Couter that Willy Clinton is a gay! One wants to ask such a massive Air-Head "Which way do you want to have it?" First Bill Clinton was such a terrible skirt chaser he could NOT keep his paws off the Lewinski girl (even though to mess with her was political suicide) and NOW we have this weirdo claim by the Propaganda Nazi Babe (Ann C.) that she feels Clinton is a gay! Of course Coulter would say ANYTHING that helps to keep her name in the press.
The GWB regime is INDEED "encouraging" us citizens to buy all the Rx medicine we possibly can. This was why Bush made sure that any importation of drugs by the elderly was ruled as "against the law" by his regime. At one time it was possible to buy cheap (9 cents per pill) blood pressure medicine from an offshore pharmacy. But now this is hard-to-impossible to do, which is due to the strong crack-down by the GWB administration. The person I know who was getting blood pressure med for only 9 cent apiece now pays $110 for a 30 pill bottle. That’s about $3.66 per pill for U.S. made Rx drugs - similar drugs to which can be bought for only $9 for a 100 pill bottle. This is how the GWB regime "supports" the U.S. citizen. This person’s Rx medicine how costs $101 MORE when bought from the Giant Pharma Corporation (which is FULLY supported by Bush) than would be necessary to pay *normally* on the open market. This "medicine" is not being made by *God* - so it ought not be this costly! As you know - a generic B/P medicine can be made for almost nothing.
The amount of profits being raked-in by the giant Pharma Corps is amazing! I’d read recently that the total profits raked in by the 10 leading Pharma corporations listed in the Fortune 500 *exceeded* to total profits of ALL THE OTHER 490 companies on the Fortune 500 list put together! Since it is *necessary* for people to have Rx drugs (or the Pharma companies have convinced us that’s true anyway) why don’t we just NATIONALIZE those companies? Is that too much like the hated "socializm"? The answer is "WE CAN’T" nationalize the Pharma companies. We can’t DO THAT because the PACs and wealthy contributers are now running the whole legislature of the United States. If the congressmen (senators and representative) would FAIL to vote how the PACS wanted them to vote - the PACs will funnel campaign money to that politician’s FOE in the next election. So he MUST obey the wishes of the PACs or he’ll be "history". That is WHY there *needs* to be only ONE single term allowed to be served in both the House and the Senate.
I’d heard a general on MSNBC state that this Iraq war has already cost the U.S. about $450 Billion that we could NOT afford to spend. The reason for us to INVADE Iraq was on the whim of the neocom hard-line hawks - whose super-Christian "morality" made them believe "It’s the right thing to do". Also it appeared to Bush, Chenney and Wolfowitz, et al. that the Iraqis would welcome being "liberated" and strew rose petals in the path of our soldiers. But No Sale! We are only Infidel jerks to all of the Muslims! So WHY whould they feel ANY "appreciation" toward a nation composed mainly of Infidels - guys whom they are taught from birth are "Not Fit To Live"? Iran under Saddam had served to counter-balance the Iran crazed regime Islamists. Iran would not have acted up as they have in supporting Insurgents - had not Saddam been overthrown. Now we have the Sunni "Insurgents" who are battling against us and against the Shiite Muslims also.
This whole religion-caused mess of constant warfare will NEVER be solved by us. The fundamentalist Muslims are as bad (or even worse?) than the Fundo Xtains are here. They imagine that Allah is on their side, so whatever they want to do must be fine because they love Allah so much. Now the plan of Iran appears to be to cause a war that will become ’Armageddon’ - "End Times" - which is why Iran is planning to build nukes. Won’t that be a lot of fun? By that time GWB will be safe on his Texas ranch and rocking on the front porch of his ranchero.

The rain will not stop. The US is only a tool in the global devastation. The machine is larger than we know, including the "royal" family, the World Bank, and israel. Bush is a plastic puppet placed as a facade to hide the corruption.
The democratic party is just as guilty. There is only ONE party with 2 faces in the US. Voting is a placebo now. The Republic is dead.
4 August 2006, 01:00
From BozoBilly,
It’s pretty clear the 2 parties are WAY much too alike. A relative of mine (who was quite a patriotic fellow) was giving dough to the presidential political campaign (if you can all it that) of Lyndon LaRoush (spell?) maybe in the 80s. Some of his family got ’torqued’ that he was giving to a guy who was a big "socialist" (or maybe once a Communist?) and who also had been a conscientous objector - perhaps in WW-2. His daughter was Big on Booze - and she’d complained her daddy was sending LaRoush too much money! After her dad died, she drank up the whole estate in maybe 3 years, including her half of a $125K home which she’d mortgaged for $7500. All that booze killed her at maybe 36 Y.O. I’d asked my relative WHY he was donating money to LaRoush and he told me there was ZERO difference between the Dems and the Repubs - so he was supporting Laroush who was diferent.
Right now we (the U.S.) *need* to have MORE parties able to run for national election with SOME chance of success. This "Repulicrats vs. Democons" scenario we have now is a farce. When a candidate gets enough votes - then his party ought to be *represented* in the House and maybe the Senate also - EVEN though he did NOT get elected president. Right now it’s mainly a winner-take-all situation. If your party does NOT do well in the presidential election, you will NOT get represented in the congress either - AT ALL. We need to allow Run Off elections here also. So if there are multiple smaller parties running, they would have a better chance of getting a share of the power. Right now ALL a third Party candidate can do is "spoil" the election for the candidate whose platform is closest like his. And we *need* to limit the number terms that congressmen can serve. By permitting ONLY a single term for each member of congress (House or Senate) the power of the PACS could not be used so effectively. The PACS could not spend their Special Interest money (from Big Business and The Wealthy Few) in order to defeat whichever candidates had FAILED in their previous terms to deliver the "pork" the Special Interests had said they wanted. There would BE no previous terms!
The "Global Devastation" phrase is 100% correct! The Big Business afficianados have been pooh-poohing the whole idea that ANY glabal warming is being caused by human actions. Lately we’ve also read that there now is a large "Dead Zone" off the coast of Oregon - which extends as far north as northern Washington state. Guys doing crab fishing have hauled up their traps and found all the crabs were dead! So far as I’ve heard - no one yet has any "clue" about WHY all these crabs & fish are dying. Anyone wanna bet me that this is NOT being caused by humans’ destruction of our ONLY biosphere?
We also now have the spectre of Stephen Hawking, PhD recommending that we ought to strive to build self-sustaining colonies on the moon and on Mars immediately. He recommends this ought to be achieved within the next 50 years - for safety sake! Wanna guess WHY he recommends that we need to do this??? He’s ’concerned’ that lots of smaller nations will have WMD soon (especially nukes) and they will use them. Also he thinks the biosphere will be corrupted (global warming is here NOW sports fans) so badly that humans could have a very tough time surviving.
The above mentioned problems are all human-caused and are only the result of our obvious STUPIDITY. We need to limit the size of human population YESTERDAY - to about 1% of the number of people who are alive on Earth today! But that WON’T happen because the Earth’s population has an average I.Q. of only about "100" - which is too LOW for decent thinking to be performed. They WILL wake up one day, but by then all humans would need to live in hernetically sealed homes that have self-contained environment maintaining plants. Thus this planet will continue sliding down its same path toward destruction. The average ’citizen’ is too mentally-challenged to be concerned with anything except the few things he feels are important. Such "important" things to our fellow (goof!) mentally-avarage humans include Eating, Sleeping, Urinating, Deficating, Copulating, Watching Television & Spending Money. Maybe in 500 more years (if this planet can support life until then) a small group of (hopefully highly gifted) people will manage to travel through space to some "new" planet that will support human life. Otherwise - it appears that the human species will die off entirely right here on earth- fairly shortly.

It’s simple, much like Bush really.
The cure for global warming is nuclear winter.

The U.S. is a democracy by keywords: congress, senate and votes - to name a few. This empty words do not make a democratic system.

An Evolution That Would Blow Darwin’s Mind Of Moral Regression, Heartland Extremism, and
Solidarity against the Wicked Witch
By Jason Miller
Forget the exploits of John Brown and Carrie Nation. Their violent efforts for virtuous causes are but distant memories in the Land of Oz. Here in contemporary Kansas, many socially conservative uber-patriots fastidiously and "peacefully" adhere to an American sociopolitical system which is becoming increasingly hostile to science, peace, human rights, the environment, and minorities. Yes, the "American Way" has become rife with many of the truly vulgar and destructive aspects of humanity.
Since 1998, pro-Evolutionary forces have been grappling with anti-Evolutionary forces for control of the Kansas State School Board. In the recent election, power changed hands for the fourth time in eight years as Darwinists reclaimed a 6-4 advantage on the board. It is virtually a foregone conclusion that the board will again re-write the science standards to restore Evolution to its proper stature. Thankfully, reason will again prevail in science classes from Overland Park to Dodge City.
Those of us who believe in the validity of scientific inquiry, draw a distinction between faith and science, and recognize the dangers of state-validated religion are celebrating progress manifested in the election results.
Yet, as I pondered the situation more deeply, I realized that Evolution represents but a minor skirmish in a much broader conflict. And at the same time, reflecting on the notions of evolution and change conjured thoughts of how, in many ways, the United States has followed a plummeting moral trajectory as it has evolved over the years.
While it is reassuring to know that our Kansas public school children will learn one of the most widely held and accepted theories in the biological sciences (and at least for now, their spiritual education will be left to their parents and clergy), there are much larger stakes to consider. Stepping back and examining human existence from a global perspective reveals countless disturbing images of unmitigated suffering thrust upon a majority of the Earth’s inhabitants.
Ohio, Georgia, and Pennsylvania are still struggling to inject religion into their science classes under the clever guise of the "theory" of Intelligent Design. Recent legislative initiatives, amendments to state constitutions, and actions by a variety of activist groups (like the Minutemen) clearly demonstrate that many of the Western European immigrants to Turtle Island still suffer the spiritual diseases of homophobia, xenophobia, hubris, and racism.
Preying upon these spiritual maladies, the opportunists in DC and on Wall Street (who reside at the peak of the capitalist pyramid) blitz us with propaganda readily disseminated by their partners in the corporate media to fuel "culture wars". Like a blacksmith with bellows, they super heat raw emotion to a white hot state that leaves human reason in cinders.
As we wage slaves run the rat race, fighting over the scraps so "charitably" tossed our way in America’s "ownership society", we claw each others’ eyes out over issues like Evolution, homosexual rights, and abortion, enabling those leading our depraved social and political institutions to plunder the world’s wealth with little or no constraint. Aside from the numerous seductive distractions they provide through television and consumerism, what better way to manipulate the masses than by perpetually thrusting contentious issues into their faces that splinter them into warring factions?
Remember December? When Iraqi and American body bags were filling up faster than Santa’s elves could pack his sacks of toys? And Christians in the United States were beside themselves because some stores weren’t saying "Merry Christmas" to customers? It boggles the mind!
It is widely known that the Bush Regime has heavily courted radical Christian elements in the United States to garner much of its political support. Ostensibly bearing the cross of the Christian God who blesses only America, George Bush is on a sacred mission to fulfill Manifest Destiny around the globe.
With the backing of Diebold, Katherine Harris, the Supreme Court, and a heavily mobilized base of extremist Christians who stampeded to the polls to support Bush’s eagerness to fulfill their apocryphal prophecies in the Holy Land, elect a degenerate individual many apparently believed was an Evangelical who manifested the virtues of Christ, and to empower a group willing to proclaim that Christianity is the official state religion, George Bush and his cronies blatantly subverted our Constitutional Republic by taking office twice without winning the electoral or the popular vote.
Astoundingly, now that Mephistopheles has revealed his true identity, he and his fellow Neocons, Zionists, Fundamentalist Christian leaders, and plutocrats still garner support from amongst their subjugated masses. Admittedly, he has been on shaky ground lately, but Bush still has enough adherents that he has avoided impeachment and prosecution for his crimes against humanity.
Through its denial of civil rights to Gays, opposition to abortion and stem cell research, unwavering support for Israel (and its heinous ethnic cleansing and war crimes), dedication to preserving the dominant role of White America, and creation of a nationalist furor that is beyond being obscene, the Bush Regime has garnered the support of enough Americans to empower them to unleash Hell upon millions of human beings to further the interests of US multinationals, the military industrial complex, Israel, and the rest of its cohorts.
Strauss’s disciples learned their art well as they are clearly demonstrating with their virtuoso performance. And Kansas is a microcosm of the stratum of American society that is entranced by the Neocons’ euphonious symphony. A symphony they brilliantly composed to drown out the sounds of their abuse of power, exploitation and murder.
As 60 Minutes revealed this week, the Bush administration heavily edits the findings of its own scientists to minimize public awareness of the dangers of phenomena like Climate Change. Employing lawyers to water down admonitions drafted by NASA and EPA scientists, the Bush Regime seriously limits what would be well-founded citizen and Congressional concern about abusive environmental practices by the amoral profit seekers of corporate America.
Capitalizing on their paranoid belief that they are somehow facing persecution by evil secular humanists, the wealthy elites are steering Dominionists and other Christian extremists down a path to the tyranny each group craves. Removing prayer from public schools was not about abolishing Christianity. Eliminating mandatory prayer was to prevent our government from endorsing and potentially mandating a specific religion. State-imposed religion is a powerful element of virtually any despotic regime worth its salt.
In blaming Hispanic immigrants for "stealing" benefits from tax-supported social programs while providing "nothing" in return; perpetuating Black American poverty, under-education, and crime by isolating many of them in inner-city ghettos or warehousing them in the prison industrial complex; and vilifying Gays for "destroying the moral fabric" of the United States, our de facto oligarchs abuse vulnerable populations already despised by many other Americans and scapegoat them for the ills plaguing our nation. Another block in the foundation of a "successful" fascist state.
[Note: Fascist states are generally characterized by authoritarian rule, extreme nationalism, corporate domination, anti-liberalism, and militarism. Starting to look and sound awfully familiar, eh USA?]
In granting federal money to tax-exempt religious entities for "faith based initiatives" to aid the growing numbers of impoverished in the Twenty First Century Gilded Age, the plutocracy gains the dual advantage of currying the favor of its Fundamentalist Christian base amongst the "commoners" and creating a subterfuge for eliminating "wasteful" federal spending on public social programs to benefit the poor. Many of those resting comfortably atop the financial summit, whose wealth exists thanks to a deeply corrupt system which impoverishes billions of human beings, despise the elements of "liberalism" which serve to limit their boundless greed and visions of unrestrained, Dickensonian Capitalism.
Reducing taxes and privatizing have become the mantras of the Bush Regime’s economic policy. At the end of the day, who doesn’t want to pay less in taxes and see a reduction in poorly managed government bureaucracies? The problem is that the tax cuts are providing massive benefit to the super-rich (like the Walton and Mars families) while putting very little money back into the pockets of the working class. Meanwhile, military expenditures continue to rise to more insane levels as programs to benefit children, the elderly, the sick, and the impoverished are reduced or slashed rather than redesigned or improved.
What was that definition of fascism again?
Not even public education escapes the rapacious attacks of the ruthless wolves at the top of the food chain. The No Child Left Behind Act furthers their goal of strengthening the Fourth Purpose. John Taylor Gatto defined the Fourth Purpose in an interview about his book, Dumbing us Down: The Hidden Curriculum of Compulsory Schooling:
Throughout the 19th century, a new Fourth Purpose began to emerge, tested thoroughly in the military state of Prussia in northern Europe. The Fourth Purpose made the point of mass schooling to serve big business and big government by extending childhood, replacing thinking with drill and memorization while fashioning incomplete people unable to protect themselves from exhortation, advertising and other forms of indirect command. In this fashion, poor Prussia with a small population became one of the great powers of the earth. Its new schooling method was imitated far and wide, from Japan to the United States.
Some conjecture that the ultimate goal of social conservatives is to eliminate public education. I disagree. The ruling class realizes what a sacred cow they would be slaughtering. Besides, as Gatto’s insight indicates, the most effective way to control human beings is through their psyches. And what better time to capture human minds than when they are young and malleable?
Profits, property, and power trump humanity in the sociopathic value systems of the vicious malefactors at the helm of the United States. Witness the willful neglect leading to the tragic death and diaspora of tens of thousands of Black Americans in New Orleans. Consider the slaughter of over 100,000 Iraqi civilians, the liberal distribution of depleted uranium throughout Iraq’s countryside, the wanton destruction of much of Iraqi infrastructure, the death of over 2600 American military personnel in Iraq, the sacrifice of almost 3,000 American civilians in the Neocon’s Pearl Harbor on 9/11, the torture of human beings, and the suspension of basic justice for those suspected of "terrorism".
Their willful refusal to employ the power the United States clearly has to enforce an immediate cease-fire in Lebanon provides yet another overt example of Neocon moral bankruptcy. The United States has deliberately stymied UN intervention efforts to give Israel time to finish destroying Lebanon with funding and equipment we furnished. Israel has displaced a million people, killed over 600 innocent civilians, and destroyed over $2 billion worth of infrastructure through its invasion of a sovereign nation. This in retaliation for the capture of two of its soldiers by Hezbollah, a powerful group of militants over which Lebanon has virtually no control. In contrast, Israel has suffered the loss of 26 of its civilians. While tragic, these losses pale in comparison to the devastating horror the Israeli war machine has inflicted upon Lebanon
A sane government concerned with human welfare and justice would have put a stop to these blatant crimes against humanity long before the situation escalated to this point. But the Bush Regime has justified and encouraged the Israeli atrocities. They obfuscate well, but it does not take much critical thinking to see the true agenda of our malevolent leaders.
Virtually all citizens of the United States have been deceived by their government to some extent. While I remain a tenacious dissident against many of the United States’ political and social institutions because of my passion for social justice and human rights, my choice to manifest my dissent through writing and publishing burdens me with a degree of complicity in the schemes of the Bush Regime. As I research, analyze, write, and publish, I serve humanity as writers have throughout history. I educate, inspire both support and opposition, amuse, comfort, provoke thought, agitate, anger, and in some cases, win hearts and minds. Yet at the same time, by asserting intellectual arguments which are mostly opposed to the American Empire because of my personal beliefs, I participate in the intellectual civil war the ruling elites love to perpetuate to keep those of us in the "lower classes" from achieving solidarity against them.
Contrary to our patriotic programming, dissidents in the United States are not free to exercise their First Amendment rights because millions of poor wretches fought and died in wars of imperial conquest under the pretext of "protecting" or "spreading freedom." For now, our leaders allow domestic dissent because they want to keep their populace at odds with one another, they know that their strangle-hold on the psyches of many of their citizens is virtually unbreakable (if people start to see through the Reagans and Bushes, the ruling elite come up with a "liberal" Democrat like Bill Clinton to pacify the "Soccer Moms" yet still maintain the status quo of de facto plutocratic rule), and they are not ready to shed the thinning veneer that they govern according to the Constitution.
Yet despite my unintended contribution to the intellectual wars our overlords use to distract us, if I stop writing and publishing, I will surrender a significant means to contribute to the struggle for social justice and human rights and to counter the lies of the corporate media, government propagandists and history revisionists.
The answer is not to stop thinking, debating, or writing. Regardless of how we contribute to the struggle or how much we differ in opinion, we of the poor and working classes need to "agree to disagree" and unite against those who prey upon us.
230 years ago, the United States was founded by valiant rebels who shattered the manacles of colonialism. Sadly, the nation they predicated on Constitutional limitations of government power with significant emphases on the rights of individual humans (admittedly marred by the denial of rights to Blacks, women, and Native Americans), has evolved into one of the most violent, narcissistic, and oppressive empires in the history of humanity.
Sorry Dorothy, but the Wicked Witch of the West is alive and well. But don’t despair. Human beings possess an uncanny ability to Evolve, especially for the better.

Hi Jason,
I’d just begun to read your previous paper, but I’m all-in now & I need to crash soon.
That was an excellent paper/essay! Too bad it’s so late because I’d need more time to digest what you wrote in hopes of making a few comments of my own. I’d heard of the ’wars’ in Kansas concerning the teaching of either "intelligent Design" or evolution. Perhaps it was at the U of K that an instructor (or professor?) of religious studies got himself in Big Trouble. This guy had sent an e-mail (be careful there!) to a group that ostensibly was anti-religious and pro-evolution. His remarks had made fun of the religious people - and insinuated he would deal with them in an unkind manner. Then this guy found he was relieved of his post - his jocular e-mail had fallen into the hands of religious folks - who felt they were doing "god’s work" by hating this guy and trying to have him fired. Later this same teacher/instructor was driving on a back road and was being tailgated by some guys in a pickup truck. He pulled over and some guys jumped out of the truck and beat him up pretty bad - I believe they knocked out one of his teeth, among other things. This is just about par for our American-style version of "el Quida" type religious fascists.
Unlike you I do not think that America is really on a "plummeting moral trajectory" its been ONLY recently evolving toward. Basically it seems that the seeds of religious extremism have always existed in the shadows here. As a blue collar guy, I’ve managed to view some of these religious folks attitudes up close and personal over the years - and been the target of them also! It may be true that many of the arch-religious folks possess a new-found confidence that it’s "fine" for them to act as though THEIR religion-inspired philosophy is "very fine" nowadays. However these idiotic folks’ impossible-to-justify belief systems have *always* lurked quietly just below the surface - but we just didn’t notice that. I suspect that the religious "crazies" have been holding themselves "in check" for many years - because they knew their beliefs and their outrageous foaming-at-the-mouth fervor were ridiculed as total nonsense by average Americans. With the support of the newly created "attack dogs" of (neocon?) arch-conservatism - the right wing extremists now have dreams of imposing THEIR wishes (demands) and THEIR beliefs on all the rest of us.
Yes- the overthrow of the Kansas State School Board’s religious majority of members was a minor victory indeed! We in the "wilds" of the Ohio Bible Belt are still busy at arguing about the Darwin versus God theory of creation. Pennsylvania recently had managed to have the I.D. nonsense be thrown out as being any kind of acceptable "theory" for explaining how animal life came about on Earth. Fortunately a federal judge had the guts to thoroughly study the claims on each side - and he ruled that the creationists had LIED quite badly - in their crooked attempts to present their PRO I.D. arguments as NOT being inspired by their religious-cult motives!
You mention that the corporate media is fanning the flames of purile silly arguments - which leads to "cultrual wars" that distract us from REAL issues of substance. But unfortunately, the U.S. electorate is so lacking (on average) in mental ability that it takes VERY LITTLE effort to distract them from significant and critically important issues. Because the bulk of the citizenry is so lacking in intelligence - it amounts to childs play to create some distraction for (what passes for) "their minds". You will perhaps also note that very FEW of the "common people" have enough smarts (and are also interested) in such matters as the "political science" of what’s happening in this nation, or in the rest of the world. In my experience as a blue collar joe, the few who actually Give a B.R.A. about such things are considered as "goofs" of the first Magnitue - by the Blue Collar gang and also by a HIGH percentage of their managers too! Thus both you a I would be defined as "crazy people" by the typical working person. They regard the IMPORTANT things in life to be Eating, Sleeping, Deficating, Copulating, Watching T.V. as Spending Money. Thus for a FEW "freaky" people like us to be concerned with "philosophical subtelties" is considered truly crazy by that whole crowd. While "we" are vitally concerned about how the citizens of the U.S. are being screwed-around - the great majority of the citizenry could not care less about that! The ’masses’ are SO pathetically stupid that those "petty distractions" you’ve asserted are fed to them as false concerns are just about ALL their pitiful minds are able to deal with. So no harm = no foul. Exactly How big a crime is it to mislead people who have virtually NO minds?
Got to go now - its extremely late for me & I need to do chores still. Keep the faith! But please try to realize that the VAST majority of the ’proletariat’ are about as clueless as a locust post. The main reason they fail to understand what’s happening (and why they don’t care too) is because their minds are *inadequate* for that purpose. For example - you can’t teach a poodle to tie your tennis shoes, can you? And you CAN’T teach anyone having an I.Q. of maybe 100 to pay a lot of attention to "political science" matters either. However I do applaud your motives.
Like - later.

A quick addendum to my prior message - by BozoBilly:
Here’s a FINE indication that my above appraisal stating the minds of average humans are NOT adequate for coping with important ideas is indeed CORRECT. In today’s (8-07-06) "The Columbus Dispatch" newspaper there was an item stating that 50 percent of people who were polled STILL believe that WMD *do* exist in Iraq! This is true, although (that article said) about $900 million has been spent in *searching* for those WMD that were allegedly "hidden" by Saddam Husssein - yet nearly NOTHING but some quite old chemical warfare artillery shells (as I recall) were ever found. This is a PRIMARY example of what I’d said about the average human being such a total DUNCE! First - they do not CARE about what’s significant. Second - their "sphere in interest" is narrowly focused on child-like (stupid) nonsense. Roughly ONE person out of every 140 people (oddly enough) has an I.Q. defined as in the genius range (I.Q.of 140) and above. Here we are - we’re busy "bellowing & braying" a lot about how all the poor "average people" are being lied to, misled & exploited. But what NO one wants to notice is that the "average people" are so STUPID that it is SIMPLE to fool and exploit them.
This is why we all (mainly) saddle up and go to the polls to vote with high expectations. The "average people" are also in those voting lines waiting to do their Civic Duty - although the VAST majority of them have NO CLUE about what the "H" is *really* happening that’s important to the governance of the state, the nation or the world. Thus for anyone ’smart’ to be upset and angry that the results of some election are ROTTEN indeed is his own fault. It should be realized by us that a HIGH proportion of "average people" do NOT have a clue about what’s actually important in the political arena. If you want verification of this statement - why not ask yourself
WHY the quality of programming on television is so infantile? Television is so lousy because this is what the mentally-impaired plurality of AVERAGE people really LOVES to view. If not - the program quality would have to be *improved* in order to sell far more cars and cosmetics - etc.
Thus we have political races (like the 2004 national elections) decided on the basis of "which candidate loves God the most" and *other* nonsense! That was WHY all the born-again fundo (maniacs) came out of the woodwork to vote for the Texas jackass Dubya then. Those who are so highly religious tend also NOT to be intelligent - which is TERRIBLE if we realize that "average" is only an I.Q. of 100! Had those religious fundos actually *been* intelligent - their minds NOT have needed to "grasp at straws" (religious theory) so fervently in their attempt to KNOW what’s going on.
HOT topics in the news around here include such "vital" stuff as when someone is charged with sexually molesting a kid. Is this really NEWS though? No way! However that is what all the mommies of only average intelligence have deemed "most important" to know about - which is why the television stations put so much of this crap on their local news broadcasts. This is only more of the "soap opera" type drama that numerous gals find so highly fascinating - or adictive.

The electorate has an average I.Q. of only 100 points. The republicans are said to employ people (like Rove) having high intelligence with the specific objective of deceiving and/or outwitting the average voter. I took a poll in about Sept. of 2004 and was astounded to learn that a lot of Union workers I know planned to vote for GWB. This flew in the face of all recent history about the objectives and performance of the Republicans and their goal of screwing the workers and exporting their jobs to the MAX. But those workers STILL said they "admired" Bush because he was such a good Christian guy, etc. The Republicans said they are FOR the family and against gay marriages. They said they are FOR saving potential babies from being "murdered" (which is a lie) and against abortion - the Republicans said they are FOR God who has very little evidence to show "he" even exists. IN 500 more years only the aborigines will believe any god exists. So the Republicans are playing to the right wing & hard core religious sects, including the crazy sects. The Repulicans are FOR gun ownership by all - even though this "republic" has the highest per capita crime of all the advanced nations. With and electorate as dumb as ours - it is inevitable that the citizens would be taken advantage of and badly lied to by politicians. In 2008 the meatheads who voted for the Republican nazi dictatorship we now have in office are VERY likey to FORGET (if they even know what’s happening now) and commit the same stupid mistakes all over again. A dad-burned "goldfish" is said to FORGET that it has barely escaped being eaten in only 4 seconds. So our electorate is not going to do a whole lot better than that - that’s how DUMB they are.

One claim that was recently read may have been mentioned in the book "Lies And The Lying Liars Who Tell Them" by Mr. Al Franken, whom I admire greatly. this described a Dirty Trick that was alleged to have employed by a "hit team" composed of nasty neocon Republican dirty tricks experts. The man who guided this effort was also mentioned, but his name escapes me & the book has gone back to its owner. In Virginia (ir was reported - RELIABLY I’m convinced) that this "hit team" operated in Virginia right before the Republican national primary election in 2000 when Bush was running against John McCain to become the Republican candidate for POTUS. The book stated that an intensive telephone campaign was conducted that "asked" Republican voters certain questions about John McCain. Those questions included FIRST "Would you still vote for McCain if you knew that his war record as being a hero was false?" and SECOND "Would you still vote for John McCain if you knew he was the father of the baby of a black woman?" This second question would be especially effective when it was asked of voters in a southern state like Virginia. The above tactics clearly indicate the level of SLEAZE and dishonsty these political "executioners" are willing to commit, to assure that THEIR "God-fearing" (and god approved?) Nazi-like candidate would win. Do the above kind of tactics seem rather similar to the virtually criminal skulduggery that later was employed in the Florida presidential election of 2000? Does anyone else expect that DUBYA’s brother ’Jeb’ may decide to seek the office of POTUS once DUBYA has finished his second term? Are we merely just a crappy Banana Republic which is deficient in its banana crop - in regard to the underhanded political tricks & criminal double-dealing that’s being used to elect our highest officials? Isn’t the United States viewed as a ridiculous nation by the other developed countries - because political control of this nation is essentially being *purchased* by the wealthiest elite, and because our voters are so stupid we are unable (on average) to understand what’s happening to us?

In reference to the "dirty political tricks" mentioned in the previous post - I’ve heard that Greg Palast’s new book "Armed Madhouse" is a great zinger of an expose’ of a lot of nasty political crap that’s been happening. It would have been nice to send my $100 donation to help Greg’s investigations, and then receive an autographed copy of his book at no further charge. But our budget in tight right now, so I reserved it from the library. Our metro library system is large and is considered one of the best in the nation. They own quite a few copies of "Armed Madhouse" but ALL of those copies are *out* right now. Never mind - cuz’ I’m on their waiting list now. If I LIKE Palast’s book a lot I’ll probably buy my own copy anyway. Palast’s latest book apparently is a "tells all" investigative book relating much about the underhanded crap that "our" government is involved with - oncluding the Iraq war fiasco. Palast advised that we should read his book before any upgraded "anti-terrorist" regulations are enacted by the government (version #4). He suggests that his book could well be ruled as "treasonist" literature when new regulations are put in effect. If so, that’s when I’ll emmigrate to a different country.
