"They’re blowin’ this town all to hell" -Bo Hopkins in Sam Peckinpah’s "The Wild Bunch"(1969)
Senator John Warner (R-Va.) has the unexpected problem of a foreign state-owned company taking over operations at U.S. ports all figured out. The dour, self-righteous chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee announced from the Senate floor on March 9 that Dubai Ports World (DPW), one of seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates (UAE), "has decided to transfer (…)

THE DLC : PROTECTING MASTER BUSH & HIS DICKTATOR
16 March 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
3 commentsThe quislings that routinely masquerade as an Opposition Party are afraid of censuring George W. Bush . ?... Afraid to censure Bush & Dick ?... There’s no case ... Huh ? The constant refrain : Only the "kooks" are pushing this revolutionary crackpot scheme. ... Of course one must remember this is a party that has already decided to nominate "John Bolton" democrat , Hillary Rodham Clinton. ..... Why the other Democrats bother to run beggars the imagination. Hillary , the (…)

The Lies of Bernard-Henri Lévy By Doug Ireland (In these times)
16 March 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
Bernard-Henri Lévy is so ubiquitous in France’s media that he is universally referred to as BHL. But in Parisian intellectual and journalistic circles he is known by the moniker BHV-the French department store that sells anything and everything. BHL had hoped to sell himself to the United States with American Vertigo, in which he travels the United States “in the footsteps of Tocqueville.” No one is buying.
American Vertigo reminds me of that old movie, If It’s Tuesday, This Must Be (…) -
Folly, Tragedy and Farce Condi and Iran By RON JACOBS Counterpunch

4 commentsAlthough the strategy is older than the mean sheriff and his less sadistic deputy in the Old West, we need to only go back a few years here. If one recalls prior to the US/UK invasion on Iraq in 2003, there were several initiatives to "promote democracy" in that country. Usually it was the State Department that played the good cop to the Defense Department’s bad cop. Give money to dissident groups and others opposed to the regime of Saddam Hussein—that was the good guy approach. (If there (…)

Iraq: Permanent US Colony By Dahr Jamail t r u t h o u t

1 commentTuesday 14 March 2006
Why does the Bush Administration refuse to discuss withdrawing occupation forces from Iraq? Why is Halliburton, who landed the no-bid contracts to construct and maintain US military bases in Iraq, posting higher profits than ever before in its 86-year history?
Why do these bases in Iraq resemble self-contained cities as much as military outposts?
Why are we hearing such ludicrous and outrageous statements from the highest ranking military general in (…) -

WASHINGTON HAS FOUND THE SOLUTION
Michel Collon
They have found the solution! Divide Iraq into three mini-states and then pit them against one another. Does that remind you of something else? Oh, yes! It’s not the first time something like this happened....
The New York Times published an editorial on November 25, 2003 carrying Leslie Gelb’s by-line. He’s an influential man who, until recently, presided over the very important Council of Foreign (…) -
Former CIA Analyst Ray Mcgovern : Western Intelligence May Be Behind Mosque Bombing

Ray Mcgovern says US in most danger ever, from its own government
Prison Planet | February 26 2006
Former CIA analyst a and presidential advisor Ray McGovern does not rule out Western involvement in this week’s Askariya mosque bombing in light of previous false flag operations that have advanced hidden agendas of the ruling elite.
During the mid-eighties, McGovern was one of the senior analysts conducting early morning briefings of the PDB one-on-one with the Vice President, the (…) -
Rest Easy, Bill Clinton: Milosevic Can’t Talk Anymore by Jeremy Scahill / GNN | March 15 2006
16 March 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
Slobodan Milosevic is characterized in the obituaries as the “Butcher of the Balkans.” If that is the story you want to read about, please go to almost any other media outlet and read it again and again. Some are now suggesting that death is Milosevic’s final revenge, that he “ended up cheating history” by dying before judgment was passed. But the world has already passed judgment on Milosevic and what is being cheated by his death is history itself.
What the corporate media overwhelmingly (…) -
Catch 22 at the U.N.
16 March 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
The US is in a doozy of a situation, created by Bush’s own hand.
The United Nations desperately needs an honest Human Rights Committee...but can’t get one.
Why?
Because not only are there dozens of UN members who don’t begin to qualify judging "respectable" countries,....but many of OUR top allies (including Jordan,Egypt,Pakistan,Saudi Arabia and now,IRAQ!) are guilty of numerous human rights abuses.
But the real joker is the United States itself! Of course we have a long, dark history (…)
