Here are three mini-essays tied together with a common theme: the media. “Access” - To what?
Its no secret: the former watchdogs of the American media have been transformed into Bush’s lapdogs. Whenever a potential White House or GOP scandal rears its ugly head, you can count on the news media to be otherwise engaged. If you’ve paid any attention to the Tom Delay outrages, Gannon/Guckert, the Downing Street Memos, the civilian casualties in Iraq, The World (…)

American Terror and the Coming Attack on Iran
21 July 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
4 commentsMore than two years ago, we wrote here of a secret Pentagon plan to foment terrorism by sending covert agents to infiltrate terrorist groups and goad them into action — in other words, committing acts of murder and destruction. The purpose was two-fold: first, to bring the terrorist groups into the open, where they could be counterattacked; and second, to justify U.S. military attacks on the countries where the terrorists were operating — attacks which, in the Pentagon’s words, would put (…)

Orwellian House Votes: Call for End to War = Emboldening Terrorists
21 July 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
2 commentsWASHINGTON - Calls for an early withdrawal from Iraq are a mistake that will only embolden terrorists, the House resolved Wednesday. The resolution drew opposition from Democrats, who said it implied that questioning President Bush’s Iraq policies is unpatriotic.
The measure, approved 291-137, says the United States should leave Iraq only when national security and foreign policy goals related to a free and stable Iraq have been achieved.
"Calls for an early withdrawal embolden the (…) -

Karl Rove: PARENTS ABANDONED HIM—George Bush Can’t
20 July 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
2 commentsToday Bush says he will fire for convictions, not mere leaks. The consensus of lawyers is that Karl Rove will be indicted in the Valerie Plame outing case — and not for what you think. Special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald appears to have a slam-dunk case under Title 18, Sec. 641, USC (which is NOT about outing a covert agent) just as the DOJ did for leaker Jonathan Randel, who got a year in prison. Karl Rove was abandoned by both of his parents — the man he called Dad left home, Rove (…)

Why does America need foreign support ?
20 July 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
An international one-day conference on rebuilding Iraq sponsored by the United States and the European Union, which has to drawn foreign ministers from the 25-nation European Union, the United States, Iraq and many others took place in Brussels on June 22. This raises several questions : why does the US want an international conference with the participation of European countries two years after its "victory" in Iraq ? What can be expected from this conference ? And how should the antiwar (…)

Dear Representatives, What The Hell Are You Thinking?
20 July 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
2 commentsSenators and Representatives:
I write to you today to ask a simple question: "What the hell are you thinking?"
Not terribly long ago in our history, the occupants of your respective offices at least appeared to be grappling with the problems we face as a nation. There used to be some semblance of reasoned debate on the critical issues of the time. Really good representatives tried to find some point on which they agreed with their opponents to use as a starting point for developing a (…) -
Knowing God is just, patriots have duty to impeach Bush and Cheney
20 July 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
11 commentsDear Editor: There are those who would have us continually proclaim to the world that the United States is the best and greatest nation and that it is our duty to bestow our blessings upon all other peoples.
No other nation, they proclaim, is as free, wealthy, innocent, compassionate, able or well-meaning as ours. Life in these United States, they declare, is better than in any other place in the world.
There is a lot in these claims with which most of us agree.
However, most patriots (…)
