By Rupert Cornwell in Washington
Iraq’s deputy prime minister, Ahmad Chalabi, returns to Washington today in his latest incarnation - as a secular Shia leader who could offer Washington a way out of the morass into which he helped lead it two and a half years ago.
The week-long visit, during which he will meet Condoleezza Rice, the Secretary of State, and John Snow, the Treasury Secretary, and possibly Vice-President Dick Cheney, caps a remarkable comeback by a political operator who is (…)

Italian state TV, Rai, has broadcast a documentary accusing the US military of using white phosphorus bombs against civilians in the Iraqi city of Falluja.
Rai says this amounts to the illegal use of chemical arms, though the bombs are considered incendiary devices.
Eyewitnesses and ex-US soldiers say the weapon was used in built-up areas in the insurgent-held city.
The US military denies this, but admits using white phosphorus bombs in (…) -
These Photos of Niger Uranium Forgeries Blow Libby, War Case Wide Open!
9 November 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
5 commentsPut the words NIGER FORGERIES and these photocopies (below) into the consciousness of Mr. and Mrs. America, and it could change the course of history. These 4 graphics are worth 4 million words. These are the cause/excuse for the Iraq war. They are not real (they are forgeries), but they are a REAL threat to the nation’s existence! Why? Because they came from foreign sources. FOREIGN AGENTS HAVE BEEN DRIVING US POLICY. That is a bigger threat to America than knocking down the WTC, (…)

US forces ’used chemical weapons’ during assault on city of Fallujah
9 November 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
2 commentsPowerful new evidence emerged yesterday that the United States dropped massive quantities of white phosphorus on the Iraqi city of Fallujah during the attack on the city in November 2004, killing insurgents and civilians with the appalling burns that are the signature of this weapon.
Ever since the assault, which went unreported by any Western journalists, rumours have swirled that the Americans used chemical weapons on the city.
On 10 November last year, the Islam Online website wrote: (…) -

Israel as an Extension of American Empire
By JEFF HALPER
There are many tragic and self-destructive features of the Occupation for Israel itself. Although the country was founded on the "original sin" of exclusivity and the expulsion of the refugees, it nevertheless had (has?) the potential to develop into a normal, even progressive society. Many of the socialist principles that accompanied the Zionist program led in those directions. Israel always talked of democracy, even extending (…) -
Our Situation is no Different from the Dark Days of Saddam Hussein

The former regime of Saddam Hussein suppressed all forms of freedom, did not tolerate the slightest dissent and buried any voice he did not like.
As a result of his rash, brutal and despotic polices we ended up in the kind of the brutal foreign occupation we have now.
Iraqis’ pleasure over the collapse of the regime was short-lived. It did not take us long to discover that there has been little or no difference in conditions before and after the so-called (…) -

Shocking revelation on RAI News 24 of the use of chemical weapons by the US military in Iraq. Veteran admits: ’Bodies melted away before us’.

In soldier slang they call it Willy Pete. The technical name is white phosphorus. In theory its purpose is to illumine enemy positions in the dark. In practice, it was used as a chemical weapon in the rebel stronghold of Fallujah. And it was used not only against enemy combatants and (…) -

Ziad Cattan was a Polish Iraqi used-car dealer with no weapons-dealing experience until U.S. authorities turned him into one of the most powerful men in Iraq last year - the chief of procurement for the Defense Ministry, responsible for equipping the fledgling Iraqi army.
As U.S. advisors looked on, Cattan embarked on a massive spending spree, paying hundreds of millions of dollars in Iraqi funds for secret, no-bid contracts, according to (…) -
Council: Bring troops home
6 November 2005 par (Open-Publishing)

The Sacramento City Council called Tuesday night for the "rapid and comprehensive withdrawal of United States military personnel and bases from Iraq," citing the financial and human costs of the war on local resources.
The resolution, sponsored by council members Lauren Hammond and Ray Tretheway, puts Sacramento on a short but growing list of cities nationwide pressing for a quick withdrawal. Chicago’s council recently approved a similar measure. San Francisco made the (…)
