Senators, those of you voting to approve Condo (White) Rice will be voting for an Oreo, and signing your own death warrants. How sad for all of us.

Also, Senators, won’t you feel tortured if you vote to confirm Gonzales as Attorney General?

  • This is one lame post. "Oreo"??? Being labeled with that tired epithet is the least of future Secretary of State Rice’s problems. NeoCons come in all ages, sizes, shapes, colors and genders.

    • Evidently you missed the point entirely. Seems to me that the point was that Rice grew up isolated from her black heritage and people, and now is Bush’s lap dog, doing the white man’s job.

    • "evidently" - If you are the original poster, it seems that you missed making your point - that being Rice "grew up isolated from her black heritage and people..."??? How does calling her an "oreo" make that point? There is a black middle class in the US and Rice grew up in that milieu. But, I suspect you or the actual poster meant to imply that Rice has somehow betrayed some other "black heritage and people." Why shouldn’t a black middle class woman want to aspire to become the Secretary of State, irrespective of whether she’s "...Bush’s lap dog, doing the white man’s job." Isn’t ambition and success a basic tenet of middle class ideology?

      I’m no fan of Condoleeza Rice, but calling her an oreo, culturally conditioned to do "Massa’s" bidding by virtue of having missed the "Black experience," whatever that is, is not a compelling argument. It’s just a poorly thought out assertion.

    • It matters little in what environs she grew up in; she is an "Oreo". It is a personal belief and desire to be of the White tribe. Colin Powell and his son, Mike, have similar tendencies. Recall his presentation to the UN and Mike’s "outrage" at Janet Jackson’s staged event.

      But getting back to Condi, she should be ashamed for the statements she makes and she should be ashamed for the mistakes she has made. She is a weak intellecutal; it is surprising she attained a Ph.D. in anything.

      They are lies when old White men make them; these lies are made worse when Black men repeat them; then they are further decayed when a Black woman cites them.

      There is a stong desire in some Blacks to bind to the White tribe — even when they are marginalized and made impotent. Again, to use Colin as an example, he played his role — presented his face to the world on issues/topics paramount to the White tribe and in the end they rejected him. Will he ever realize this? Probably not.

      There will come a time when members of the White tribe will have no further use for Condi and they will dismiss her.
