Decorated Iraq War Veteran Demands Meeting With Cindy Sheehan- Bring it On!

The Reality-Challenged Challengers to Cindy Sheehan
29 August 2005"Americans should get a grip on reality. If we were invaded, we would fight till the invaders left. That is what Iraqis are doing and will continue to do until they drive us out. Then, after a period of healing, we can become friends once again. Our enemies in Iraq are enemies of our own making. Let us never forget this reality."
by Stan Moore
It is probably the fault of the media. Or maybe the failure of the public education system. Whosoever fault it is, the American citizens who have (…) -
Cindy Sheehan exposes the absurdity of warfare
29 August 2005The flashbulbs are popping at a prodigious pace and typically soft fence straddlers are climbing off their pedestals and throwing their feathered hats into the mix which can only signify that an empty cause is about. The celebration of unaimed and late-arriving anger in this instance is the current pulsating spectacle that is taking place in Crawford, Texas at what is now being termed Camp Casey. At this "camp", a mother of a fallen soldier is quickly gaining the attention of the Fox News (…)

UNTANGLING THE BALL OF BUSH LIES
29 August 2005UNTANGLING SOME BUSH LIES
By Peter Fredson
Let me see if I can untangle the huge knot of lies that Bush has made into a large sticky ball.
He has claimed a dozen or so times that he "wants to stay the course."
By that he means he intends to stay in Iraq, a foreign country which up until a few years ago was a sovereign country. Bush says that he must "stay the course" because he has to kill "insurgents" in Iraq, before they decide to come here. He wants to attract them to Iraq, by (…) -
Gods of War, Gods of Greed and Profiteers of Misery

“The process of transformation [American empire building]...is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event-like a new Pearl Harbor.” From PNAC plan entitled Rebuilding America’s Defenses: Strategies, Forces and Resources for a New Century, endorsed by neocons in the Bush Administration, the corporate media and Washington think-tanks. Dear Settlers : "Dear" in the most literal sense
29 August 2005by Uri Avnery
At long last it must be spelled out, without hypocritical pity, without "if" and "but".
We have paid billions of shekels in order to settle you in the Gaza Strip. We have paid billions to keep you there, and most of you have lived there at our expense. We paid billions to defend you, and dozens of soldiers, male and female, lost their lives doing this. Now we are paying billions (Eight? Ten? Twelve?) to get you out of there and pay you generous compensation.
But all this (…) -
CIA Faked Lockerbie ’Evidence’
29 August 2005Former Scottish police chief confirms U.S. wrote the script to incriminate Libya
by Jennifer Monroe
EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND — (OfficialWire) — 08/29/05 — A retired Scottish police officer has come forward to provide a signed statement corroborating the belief that vital evidence used to convict Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al-Megrahi for mass murder in 2001 was fabricated.
Al-Megrahi was found guilty for the murder of 270 people who died when on December 21, 1988, Pan Am Flight 103 exploded over (…) -
Venezuela’s President Chavez is to be commended for being the truth-teller!
29 August 2005by Mary MacElveen
In light of Pat Robertson calling for the assassination of President Hugo Chavez then apologizing for it, what I have witnessed is the sounds of silence coming from all of our elected leaders, be they Democrat or Republican, chiming in unison that this was wrong.
Then again, it goes hand in hand with the culture of death we are living with in this country.
Yes, you heard me correctly ... this is a culture of death where the benefactors are the rich and the powerful (…) -
Al Sharpton joins interfaith service
29 August 2005Representatives of a dozen faith-based communities and beliefs gathered this morning for an interfaith prayer service. Each took a moment to express in their own words why this war must end. "We should not declare God to be on our side, but we should be on God’s side," said one clergy member. Rev.
Al Sharpton closed the service with a moving call to take history into our own hands. Maybe folks didn’t have the courage to do what Cindy did, but the least we can do now is stand with her now, (…) -
Two thousand gather for anti-war Texas hoe down and BBQ
29 August 2005Over two thousand people made their way to Camp Casey yesterday for a huge hoe down deep in the heart of Texas. Full buses of supporters from Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, and Austin unload and loaded throughout the day. The day included a massive volunteer mobilization to serve up a full "Texas-style BBQ," and to support all of the camp visitors in the 100+ heat. After Cindy Sheehan welcomed many of the buses, the main tent stage featured a day of music by artists from across Texas. (…)
