DAYS OF ACTION FOR RIGHTS FOR SANS PAPIERS
12 July 2005Saturday 1st October
The international conference of No One Is Illegal in Manchester, UK on 25th June called for an international day of action on Saturday 1st October against immigration controls. 2005 marks the centenary of the introduction of immigration controls in Britain - the Aliens Act (1905) - so it is a good time to highlight that there is nothing natural or inevitable about immigration controls. After the success of the Day of Action on 2 April we are hoping that activities can (…) -
Exploding Autism Epidemic Tied To Greed Of Pharmaceutical Companies
12 July 2005Exploding Autism Epidemic Tied To Greed Of Pharmaceutical Companies John Hanchette July 12, 2005 OLEAN, NY — Here’s an update on a topic featured in this space before: the alarming exponential increase in young children with autism. You may have missed it, but late in June both houses of the New York State Legislature passed an act that, beginning in mid-2008, would prohibit further sale or use of the mercury compound thimerosal in vaccines for children younger than 3, and for inoculating (…)

Editorial: The Second Quarter
12 July 2005Editorial: The Second Quarter July 12 2005 President George W. Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld have all gone out of their way in recent weeks to tell us we’re "winning" the war in Iraq, that the efforts of indigenous Muslims to toss us out of their backyard are in their "final throes" and other such nonsense.
Some morons still believe them. Presumably, these are the same morons who still believe — despite all evidence to the contrary — that Saddam (…) -
Bush Terror War Devastates London
12 July 2005Bush Terror War Devastates London Bill Gallagher July 12, 2005 "The strange thing is it happened in the London underground and in World War II that was a place of safety and now it’s a place of terror." — Ray Flood, Vice President, Commonwealth Club, Warren, Mich.
DETROIT — The carnage in London brings home, again, the abject failure of the "war on terror" as President George W. Bush and his only significant ally, British Prime Minister Tony Blair, conduct it. They are focusing on the (…) -
As We Sowed, So Do We Reap
12 July 2005As We Sowed, So Do We Reap Eric Margolis July 10, 2005
LONDON — "The purpose of terrorism is just that — it is to terrorize people and we will not be terrorized." So declared a sombre, determined Prime Minister Tony Blair on Thursday after the worst bombings in London’s recent history.
Blair spoke for all Britons. In the crowds milling about central London right after the four bombings, I saw people who were dazed, confused, and edgy, but no fear or mass panic. Britons rise to their full (…) -
London. Once again: our deaths - your war
12 July 2005The bombings which horrified London, like the events of the 11th of March in Madrid, struck at the civilian population of the British capital during the summit meeting of the eight big world powers. An attack on civilians is clearly an act of terrorism, but no-one can fail to understand that these operations are conceived by those who plan them and carry them out as acts of war in response to the actions of the western powers in Iraq, Afghanistan and Palestine. In this context we wish to (…)

Blair rejects calls for probe into bombings
11 July 2005Tony Blair will on Monday reject Conservative demands for a government inquiry into last week’s London bomb attacks, insisting such a move would distract from the task of catching the perpetrators.
As police and security services on Sunday continued searching for the bombers - thought to be Islamist terrorists - Downing Street said the prime minister believed an inquiry now into the outrage which killed at least 49 people would be a "ludicrous diversion."
Instead, in a statement to the (…) -
Bush says London attacks targeted civilized world
11 July 2005From corporate media today:
"The attack in London was an attack on the civilized world, and the civilized world is united in its resolve: We will not yield, we will defend our freedom," Bush said.
"In this difficult hour, the people of Great Britain can know the American people stand with you," he said. "And just as America and Great Britain stood together to defeat the totalitarian ideologies of the 20th Century, we now stand together against the murderous ideologies of the 21st (…) -
