Charlene Cothran (Venus magazine) and Michael Glatze (Young Gay America magazine editor) were gay niche publishers who discovered that peddling fiction is much juicer (and potentially more profitable) than selling straight news on gay life. The newly minted "ex-gay" stars tell us they have seen the light - unfortunately, it appears to be the spotlight - as they now parade themselves in the Christian media, pawning their terrific tales of transformation. Cothran and Glatze (…)

Zeitgeist: the Movie
10 July 2007"Zeitgeist: the general intellectual, moral, and cultural climate of an era"
"We have been misled, away from the true and divine presence in the Universe that men have called God. I don’t know what God is but I know what he isn’t. And unless and until you are prepared to look at the whole truth, wherever it may go, whoever it may lead to ... if you want to look the other way or if you want to play favorites, then somewhere along the line you’re going to find out you’re messing with (…) -
Want to Impeach Cheney? Think July 23rd
9 July 2007By David Swanson
The impeachment movement is gaining traction, and now - over the next two weeks - is the time to push it all the way to success. Over the weekend, supporters of impeachment made "Impeach Cheney" the number 1 video on Youtube. On Friday, for the first time, a polling company asked Americans if they want Cheney impeached. A majority of 54% said Yes, and the poll was reported in the media. Congressman John Conyers even cited it on ABC’s "This Week" on Sunday.
On July 4, the (…) -
Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Personal Gratification
9 July 2007“Here There Be Monsters”
Essay by Jason Miller
“America does not go abroad in search of monsters to destroy.”
While it certainly was not his intent, Adams’ assertion serves to remind us of a truth revealed by vast oceans of tears, torrential rivers of blood, and formidable piles of human remains. Leaving murder, mayhem, and misery in its wake, America does “go abroad,” but not, as Adams noted, “in search of monsters to destroy.” What Adams failed to perceive, despite living in the (…) -
THE AMERIKKKAN LEGAL SYSTEM
9 July 2007by David R. Hoffman, Legal Editor of Pravda.Ru
It is a decision that will live in infamy. It rivals Dred Scott, which held that African-Americans had no rights that white people were bound to respect, and Plessy vs. Ferguson, which upheld the segregationist doctrine of “separate but equal.” It, for all intents and purposes, destroyed the landmark ruling in Brown vs. Topeka, which declared that “separate but equal” is “inherently unequal.” It is one of the most racist, shortsighted and (…) -
Impeach Cheney Video
9 July 2007Dear activists, colleagues and friends,
That’s right, we said the "I" word. And you should be saying it too — to your family, your friends, your neighbors, your pets and the hearty 26% of Americans who somehow still believe the Bush/Cheney team more worthy of sitting in the Oval Office than an undisclosed location stripped of all authority to further damage the country we love.
You’ll want to say it even more after watching our video with the evidence for impeachment right there: (…) -
Need A Cooker? Use Your Cell Phone By Sue Mueller
9 July 2007Need A Cooker? Use Your Cell Phone
By Sue Mueller
6-28-6 Many organizations including the cell phone industry often downplay the risk of cell phone radiation to the brain. Results from short-term studies were used to convince consumers that use of a cell phone is not associated with brain tumors or cancer, which only develop decades after exposure. To be fair, no one knows exactly how much harm a cell phone can do to a person. Howe Recently, new media has reported a study showing the (…) -
The Hitlerization of Britain
8 July 2007Quietly but insidiously, Gordon Brown’s regime is working diligently to turn Britain into a full-blown police state, the kind which Hitler and Stalin would have been proud of.
Almost unannounced, Britain now has a Minister of Security, ex-Navy Admiral, Sir Alan West.
The creation of such a post is a disturbing sign of how advanced has become the politicization of the intelligence and police services in Britain and their servility to a foreign policy created, not in Britain, but in (…) -
THE BEAUTY OF DISASTER: 9/11 AND BEYOND
8 July 2007No matter what your position on 9/11...Surprise attack, totally unanticipated to government conspiracy, one fact stands out clearly; The Neocons gained real power as a direct result of the terror strike, and Bush gained temporary respect as a champion of "freedom fighting", and was successful with subesequent streams of lies which, under any other circumstances, would have been purely and simply ridiculed by any idiot with more than mashed potatoes for brains. In addition, Colin Powell was (…)

ENVIRONMENT: Around the Globe, Farmers Losing Ground by Lester R. Brown
8 July 2007ENVIRONMENT: Around the Globe, Farmers Losing Ground Analysis by Lester R. Brown*
WASHINGTON, Jun 27 (IPS) - In 1938, Walter Lowdermilk, a senior official in the Soil Conservation Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, traveled abroad to look at lands that had been cultivated for thousands of years, seeking to learn how these older civilisations had coped with soil erosion.
He found that some had managed their land well, maintaining its fertility over long stretches of history, (…)
