CIA Chief Petraeus ’All In’ His Biographer

by WireNews+Co - Open-Publishing - Saturday 10 November 2012

No one would be wrong now for thinking that David Petraeus and his mistress Paula Broadwell may well have selected the double entendre title for her recently published biography Petras: All In, a detailed account of the military leader’s honour and commitment, with another more personally suggestive meaning in mind.

Thinking about his long-suffering wife at home while the powerful CIA Director bedded the much younger woman, the expression "All In" must have given the cheating couple hours of giggles.

The FBI uncovered the affair between Petraeus—who has been married to his loyal wife Holly since he graduated from West Point in 1974—and Broadwell, who is married to Dr. Stephen Broadwell, after it was thought that she was attempting to access or hack the former 4-Star General’s Gmail account. Their investigation began in the spring 2012 and ended when Petraeus resigned yesterday.

As any good CIA spook will tell you sending emails can be dangerous business. But composing an email and saving it as a "Draft" so that the intended recipient can simply login to the same account and read it later is much safer. The problem is that the FBI regularly monitors for multiple logins from different IP locations for certain accounts, like Petraeus’.

I guess the head of the CIA didn’t think about that... or perhaps he just forgot that little bit of information along with the Honor Code he swore to adhere to as a young West Point Cadet, while he was "All In".
