THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK: SARAH PALIN’S SPEECH
John Chuckman
I’ve reassessed my view of Sarah Palin.
My first thought about her usefulness to John McCain was that she would be a draw for disaffected Hillary supporters in a close race, but then all I knew about Sarah was that she characterized herself as a soccer, or hockey, mom.
But already I’ve learned more about her than I ever would have wanted to know, and her simple, original description of herself proves (...)

1 commentOn the big Politshow Denver Democrats in the U.S. was unanimously Barack Obama became the first African-American presidential candidate. This ended the dispute, whether with the first woman or black the first time in accordance with the spirit of the race for the seemingly most powerful post in the world wanted to go. The New York Times dampened on 28 August the more expensive erkauften jubilation with the words, the goal is "to bring a lofty candidacy to ground level", an exuberant (...)

Mussolini’s Fascism, this is what it looks like
1 September 2008 par (Open-Publishing)
Benito Amilcare Andrea Mussolini, the “Italian politician who led the National Fascist Party and is credited with being one of the key figures in the creation of Fascism,” once said: “the keystone of the Fascist doctrine is its conception of the State, of its essence, its functions, and its aims. For Fascism the State is absolute, individuals and groups relative.”
Just in case we needed a little reminder of what Mussolini meant and what Fascism really looks like, below is a photo from (...) -
Sarah Palin Is NOT The Mother [Photos+Video]
31 August 2008 par (Open-Publishing)
9 commentsYesterday, with the news of Sarah Louise Heath Palin inexplicably being chosen as a Vice-Presidential nominee, the attentive American public was also introduced to her character. Unfortunately for all of us, it was filled with multiple instances of backtracking and outright lies. While Alaskans had been giving her an 80% approval rating, recently 87% of Alaskans polled on the subject of TrooperGate believed she was lying.
Now, I’ve known liars in my life. Their single core problem is not (...) -

JOHN MCCAIN: A MATTER OF CHARACTER
John Chuckman
McCain does a good job with the appearance of a boyishly honest man.
He puts on his quiet voice and uses his boyish (albeit now partially fossilized) expressions and, reminding me of Richard Nixon during something like his Checkers speech, sometimes glances down at his well-shined shoes, as though wordlessly to say, see what a good boy I am.
McCain’s actual record of ethics and behavior is rather dreary, and it is a (...) -
Oh, No! Not Joe Biden!
27 August 2008 par (Open-Publishing)
4 comments“The next six months are going to tell the story.” - Sen. Joe Biden pontificating on the illegal Iraq War on 12/18/05.
The Democratic Party has a death wish! There is no other rational explanation for hapless Sen. Joe Biden (D-DE) ending up as Sen. Barack Obama’s VP running mate. For starters, the presidential election is about getting a majority of the electoral votes. Delaware “only” has three electoral votes! And, Biden isn’t a sure thing to carry even them for Obama. He’s a motor (...) -

Video: White House Protester Raps “Warmonger Mentality”
5 August 2008 par (Open-Publishing)
Activist Ron Kirk, standing in front of the White House, on Aug. 4, 2008, said: “Presidential elections are a farce!” He added there wasn’t “any bit of difference” between the candidates Sen. Barack Obama and Sen. John McCain on the war. Mr. Kirk charged that they both have a “warmonger mentalitiy.” He is a former member of the U.S. Marine Corps, who also expressed his concerns about the harmful effects of “depleted uranium” on U.S. toops serving in Iraq.
