15 September 2007 par (Open-Publishing)
3 commentsIn the spirit of Ramadan I as an American citizen wish to apologize to the Iraqi people for your insurmountable loss you have felt since my government chose to invade your country back in March of 2003. I know that these are but words, but words are all I have at this point to offer you.
Many like me have called upon our elected representatives to end this war and all it does is fall on deaf ears. At times, I feel as if we are just as helpless as you are.
I have never seen you as my (…) -

The die-in will be the culmination of a (…) -

By Peter Fredson

Yesterday, in Fort Pierce, Florida, a 16-year-old boy said he shot his parents. His explanation was simple: “because he always felt like a disappointment to them because he didn’t have a job, smoked marijuana and didn’t share the same "qualities or interests" as his father.”
"So there’s nobody, now there’s nobody to be disappointed in me, try to make me lead ... their life," the lad said.
General Petraeus recently (…) -
Reading the names of the victims of 911 will take 7,140 hours by 2017

http://www.chycho.com/?q=node/951
It takes approximately 2 1/2-hours to read the names of the “2,801 souls lost at the World Trade Center” on September 11, 2001. That comes out to approximately 3.2 seconds for the reading of a single name.
If we assume that it will take the same amount of time to read the name of anyone in the world, irrelevant of their country of origin, then it will take approximately 929 hours to read the names of the one million Iraqis who have died due to the US (…) -

13 September 2007 par (Open-Publishing)
7 commentsby Cathy Garger www.mytown.ca/garger Aloha! I just found out that the Navy is planning on expanding its war games and numerous new weapon "toys" in an area of 235,000 square nautical miles around Hawaii! Incredibly, the Navy is proposing a major upgrading and expansion - in order to do more research, development, testing, and evaluation of military weapons and systems, to the tune of 140 (that is One Hundred Forty) projects, including even the use of Directed Energy Laser Weapons. Why (…)

The difference between Black and White in the United States: Jena 6 vs. a White family of 6
13 September 2007 par (Open-Publishing)
What is happening with the Jena 6 is reminding us all about the times when Slavery was the Law and Lynching Blacks the norm in the United States of America.
An “all-white jury, promptly convicted” a black teenager “of aggravated second degree assault, battery and conspiracy,” for beating a white kid. This high school student is now awaiting “sentencing which may put the teenager in prison for the next 22 years.” Five of the remaining black kids are awaiting their day in court.

Keep your chins up,your noses to the grindstone, your shoulders to the wheel and your hopes high. This is the advice of the pundits on American Sunday morning TV and also of the largest portion of Republican fat cat ideologues and war profiteers.
Let’s face it, George Bush and his slimey cohorts, with patsies Patraeus and Crocker, have told their tale, (…)
