    NEW YORK: Sowood Capital Management lost 50 percent in July, or about $1.5 billion, the biggest hedge fund manager to collapse after declines in the corporate bond and loan markets.

    I ran into Congressman Donald Payne Tuesday evening and asked him if he would sign on to cosponsor H Res 333, articles of impeachment against Vice President Dick Cheney.     A weighty new study released last week suggested that if you can’t make your podgy friends purge, you might have to purge your podgy friends. Harvard Medical School’s Dr. Nicholas A. Christakis reported in the New England Journal of Medicine that having a portly pal increased a person’s chances of becoming obese by a whopping 57-percent.
