Learning the Hardaway
24 February 2007 par (Open-Publishing)
1 commentby Wayne Besen
Grey’s Anatomy star Isaiah Washington called a co-star a faggot and ended up in rehab, while former basketball star Tim Haraway said he hated homosexuals and now his career as an ex-jock pitchman is on a cold slab. This will be remembered as the year the F-word became the new N-word and homophobic comments were no longer considered acceptable in polite company. To be sure, America has not endorsed homosexuality, but the new rules do mean celebrities will lose endorsements if (…) -
Xenomentalists: Why soldiers continue the fight in Iraq
23 February 2007 par (Open-Publishing)
7 commentsMany wonder why so many U.S.soldiers continue to tell the Press that "we must continue fighting as long as it takes, and we’ll eventually win".
The answer has a lot to do with what we "are" as citizens of the US of A.
I think there are three distinct reasons why it’s easy to persuade US troops to continue "the good fight" in Iraq.
1. Xenophobia. Many ignorant (read: ill educated) young Americans have a basic distrust, even hatred, of anyone who isn’t Christian, has dark skin, wears (…) -

No One Here Gets Out Alive: Americans’ refusal to look in the mirror presages our own demise
22 February 2007 par (Open-Publishing)
3 commentsSynopsis: US writer Daniel Patrick Welch argues that it is not just the neocon crazies in Washington, but ingrained aspects of US culture and politcs, most of all Americans’ unshakable belief in our own nobility, that drives us toward the newest chapter in global war.

James Howard Kunstler: “America, Think Downscale!”
22 February 2007 par (Open-Publishing)
“People cannot stand too much reality.” - Carl Jung
Baltimore, MD - James Howard Kunstler, controversial author and civic gadfly, was the keynote Humanities Symposium speaker on Feb. 20, 2007, at Loyola College. For years, he has been raising unholy cain about the decline of our major cities, and the strip-mallization of our once-unspoiled countrysides. He has also played the role of Cassandra, in warning about the potential harmful effects to the economy from the national addiction to (…) -
U.S. Diplomacy Aborts Jerusalem Summit, Shuns Arab Allies

Instead of building a diplomatic momentum on the political breakthrough mediated by their Saudi Arabian ally who succeeded in developing an Arab and Palestinian consensus on going along with the U.S.-steered Quartet efforts to revive the deadlocked peace process, the American diplomacy has turned their sponsored Palestinian – Israeli summit meeting in Jerusalem on Monday from a promising event into a missed opportunity.
The trilateral meeting, which secretary of State (…) -
George Soros urges Bush America "de-Nazification" after removal of war criminal Bush regime
21 February 2007 par (Open-Publishing)
3 commentsRecently (February 18, 2007) the extremist right-wing newspaper The New York Post carried a viciously unpleasant article about billionaire financial wizard and extraordinarily generous Jewish American philanthropist George Soros (he has a stupendous record of giving away hundreds of millions annually to support scholaership and free societies).
George Soros is also a ferocious critic of the war criminal, antidemocratic and human rights-abusing Bush regime and has called for no only the (…) -

"Fighting them over there so we don’t have to fight them over here"
By Dr. June Scorza Terpstra
The tired old slogan "We’re fighting them over there so we don’t have to fight them over here" is being parroted once again by Democrats and Republicans alike .
Just who are the "we" and who are "they"?
Are the "we" the military generals who need perpetual war to use up old war products and try out the new while making a profit for Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Northrop Grumman, (…) -

20 February 2007 par (Open-Publishing)
2 commentsSAN FRANCISCO — About 200 Executioners will report for work one day soon at the Lawrence Livermore Nuclear Weapons "Lab" in Livermore, California and methodically, even "professionally," set about executing the premeditated random murder of hundreds of innocent victims in the San Francisco Bay Area.
The Bay Area is home to About Seven Million potential murder victims, all blissfully unaware of the deadly radioactive uranium gas about to be released in a "dirty bomb" by the 200 (…)
