    As the fifth anniversary of 9/11 approaches, many of the nation’s values — tolerance, forgiveness, personal freedom, perhaps even courage itself — remain trapped in the wreckage.
    It may take another anniversary, another 9/11 — Sept. 11, 1906, to be precise — simply to remind us of what lies buried beneath the fear and cynicism, the ignorance and politics; and, even more importantly, to wake us up to the urgency of reclaiming those values and healing as a nation.

    For the last many months I’ve been watching the usual batch of political pundits come and go on the talk circuit. We’re continually told about Bush’s "sagging" "dropping" and "falling" poll numbers, but every time they say that, Bush’s numbers seem NOT to have fallen since the last time they mentioned them! Right now, according to many sources, he’s hovering around 40% (Lou Dobbs, others)..and they call that DOWN?
    Anyway.....

    As with any piece that angers me, I have to walk away for a bit, process it, and then write of it. In this case, I cannot especially the day after the fifth anniversary of terrorist attacks that befell this nation. Bush is seen as our defender against said terrorists. I would like to ask him then why is a US judge releasing a terrorist from jail?
