Secret Warfare: From Gladio to 9/11
An EIR interview with Dr. Daniele Ganser, 8 avril 2005 EIR: How did you come to the idea of writing a book on NATO’s Secret Armies? Who encouraged you and who discouraged you?
Ganser: I had finished my university studies in history in 1998 and I was looking for a Ph.D. research topic. At that time, I did research on the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis, with a specific focus on whether the United Nations, the world peace organization so to speak, could have (…)

On Friday, May 8, 2009, activists from the “Ashraf Protection Campaign” staged a rally in Lafayette Park, across the street from the White House. This is the 100th day that they have done so. They are concerned about preventing a “looming humanitarian crisis in Camp Ashraf,” according to their press release. Camp Ashraf is located in the town of Khalis, in Iraq, nearly “50 miles from the Iranian border.” About 4000 men, women and children—all political refugees from Iran—currently reside in (…)

Far Beyond Torture: The Long Dark History
8 May 2009 par (Open-Publishing)
The intrepid David Swanson digs up another damning memo written by that factotum of evil, Jay Bybee. This particular sinister scribbling did not involve the brutal torture of gulag captives, however. No, in this case, Jay had bigger fish to fry for his masters: the murder of more than a million people in a Hitlerian act of military aggression...
And so we come back full-circle in the filthy, bloodsoaked, incestuous nest of American power politics. Bill Clinton is now regarded as a Bush (…) -

Criminalizing Criticism of Israel
May 7, 2009
On October 16, 2004, President George W. Bush signed the Israel Lobby’s bill, the Global Anti-Semitism Review Act. This legislation requires the US Department of State to monitor anti-semitism world wide.
To monitor anti-semitism, it has to be defined. What is the definition? Basically, as defined by the Israel Lobby and Abe Foxman, it boils down to any criticism of Israel or Jews.

The Trickle Up Theory By David Glenn Cox
Wonderful news, the recession is over and we won! Of course, when I say we I mean Wall Street and the big banks.
May 6 (Bloomberg) — A peak in the number of jobless claims signals the worst U.S. recession in half a century may end in June, according to Thomas Lam, an economist at United Overseas Bank Ltd. in Singapore.
May 6 (Bloomberg) — U.S. stocks advanced to a four-month high as investors speculated banks don’t need as much capital as had (…) -

On May 5, 2009, eight activists were arrested at a health care hearing of the Senate Finance Committee, in the Dirksen Office Building, Room 106. As soon as the Committee Chair, Sen. Max Baucus (D-MT), opened the proceedings, the activists began in turns to stand and to make comments, like: “Why isn’t a single payer at the table?” They were immediately “escorted” out of the room by the Capitol Hill police and placed under arrest.
The demonstrators’ press release underscored “how 22,000 (…) -

Stray Cats By David Glenn Cox
I watch the sun go down reluctantly. This world offers little, and I have little to offer in return. I have lost everything, so as the birds sing at daylight’s demise, I hear no music. The world has lost its music for me; it is just an endless grind with a police siren in the distance.
I went to Wal-Mart. God, I hate Wal-Mart, but I needed dish soap and hand soap, and well, beer. Some days are harder than others and this one was a difficult one. I live on (…) -
Video: Springtime for AIPAC: Annual Confab in D.C. Draws Protest
5 May 2009 par (Open-Publishing)
2 commentsIt’s Springtime for AIPAC! The mega-Israel Lobby convenes annually in Washington, D.C. at the convention center. AIPAC sucks out over $3 billion a year from our fast fading treasury for Israel with little or no dissent from the fakers in the U.S. Congress. If only the cities of Detroit, LA, Atlanta and Baltimore had such a puffed-up advocate in their corner. If you’re lucky, you can spot some of your Congressional low lifes crawling on all fours into the convention center to pay homage to (…)
