The stock market began as a means for companies to raise money and for “shareholders to invest in business ventures and get a share of profits.” At some point, it turned into a casino resembling a Ponzi scheme, which held true until 2008 when the Ponzi scheme collapsed.

A huge and spirited rally demanding “Climate Justice,” was held in Washington, D.C., on March 2, 2009. In between speakers at the event, Ms. Kathy Mattea, a popular country and bluegrass performer and also a social activist, entertained the crowd. The stage was set up across the street from the Capitol Power Plant, which was the subject of the demonstration. One of the ballads, Ms. Mattea sang was “Cool of the Day,” written by Jean Ritchie.
