At least six people including four American troops were killed in several security incidents that took place on the Iraqi arena over the past hours.

In the latest report, the Multi-National Forces said in a statement that a US Marine was killed in a firefight with armed insurgents in Al-Anbar, in the western territory of Iraq. The Marine died with shrapnel of a mortar shell, it said.

Eearlier today, Iraqi police said three US soldiers where killed and two others were wounded in a car bomb blast in the Iraqi capital.

The explosion that took place Friday morning at Al-Ameerat crossroad in Al-Mansour district, was executed by a suicide bomber driving a booby-trapped Opel and targeted a US convoy that was passing by, police said.

The police added that the explosion knocked out a US Humvee vehicle. They confirmed the injury of five Iraqis, who received treatment in Al-Yarmouk hospital. US forces cordoned off the blood-drenched scene of the blast.

Two booby-trapped car explosions had taken place in Baghdad yesterday, claiming the lives of 11 people and wounding 32 others.

Separaterly, two Iraqi civilians were wounded when an explosive device blew up near a US convoy at Al-Ameerat crossroad in Al-Mansour district, Baghdad, an Iraqi police source said. No US soldiers were wounded, the source added.

Witnesses said, however, that three Iraqis were wounded in the blast and that they were taken to hospital, noting that the explosion occurred after the US convoy had passed by. - The Iraqi capital, Baghdad, has recently witnessed an increasing number of bombings which have claimed the lives of tens of civilians.

Iraqi security forces arrested gunmen and seized large quantities of weapons in Baquba, northeast of Baghdad, a Multinational Force press release said, adding that Iraqi military forces executed wide-scale burst and search operations in several parts of Baquba in Diyala Province.

It added that the forces arrested 22 gunmen and seized large quantities of weapons that included rifles, mortar shells and other types of ammunitions.

Meanwhile, an Iraqi prisoner was killed and 12 others were injured in a fight in Boka Prison in southern Iraq.

A US Army press release said the fight started between two groups of detainees at about 11 AM (local time), noting that the fight involved prisoners only and was not against US soldiers.

It added that the prisoner died, affected by his wounds after all medical efforts have failed to save his life, noting that the dead body of the prisoner will be handed to the Iraqi Government, and then to his relatives.

The Boka Prison includes about 6,000 prisoners and is located in Basra Province in southern Iraq. (end) Security has been largely fragile in Iraq since downfall of the oppressive regime of Saddam Hussein in April 2003. The Iraqi leadership, in coordination with the allies, has been working intensively to rebuild the nation’s security forces and departments to restore normalcy to the country.

    The more body bags that come home, the more people will be repulsed, when their kid comes home in a body bag, watch them sing another tune. Even contractors are coming back and committing suicide because of the lies that were revealed to them. We’re talking gung-ho bush herd mentality types. When they start killing themselves because of what they’ve seen, makes ya wonder...well, those of us who can do more then regurgitate rovespeak and come up with independent thought that is not milk fed from state propaganda.
