Artists against wars

We artists are not in war!

We Artists
are not in war either in the territories of the colonial conflicts in the South of the world neither in the metropolitan territories where there are conflicts against the diverse humans in the North of the world. We don’t want to be dragged on the logics of the propagation of local and global terror.

We Artists

with our expressions, our bodies, the colours, the sounds, the actions, with our imagination and with our creativity are building relations, situations, dialogues, keys of understanding of the present and of the future, bridges not less realistic than those made of iron and cement.

The empire of the market,

whose only target is the unilateral appropriation of the planetary resources, doesn’t remember the essentiality of human beings and of the environment necessary to live, and continues to sow death and destruction all over the world, instead of possible cultural and political relations and equal trade and cooperation between people.

We Artists

recognize collectively the process of expressive autonomy everywhere they take place. As well as we resist against the process of homologation of the consciences, we recognize the dignity and the conviction of resistance against occupation and repression all over the world.

We Artists

cannot be quiet looking at the pain of the world and promote pacific solutions against the culture of death, destruction, repression and exploitation.

For these reasons We condemn

war, torture, negation of human rights, merchandising of human beings and of environment among the civil populations, in the prisons of war, in the courts of occupation and in the centres of administrative detention (centres of temporary permanence for immigrates); we condemn also the precariousness of the workers, the total subordination of the bodies and of the primary needs to the laws of the free market.

We ask

for the ceasefire

We ask

for the liberation of all hostages and of the oppressed people in Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine, Kurdistan, Cecenia and in all parts of the five continents.

We ask

as world citizens the international organisations for the creation of a commission for the protection of the human rights of all war prisoners.

We ask

for the closure of the centres of temporary permanence, real administrative jails, where men and women are shut up, for the only reason that they are clandestines.

We ask

the European Constitution for a Europe of Rights, of free Citizenship and of Peace.

We ask

for the withdrawal of the occupation forces.

We

Artists for Peace

invite all artists to activate themselves against war and against every other conflict and for the realisation of a big manifestation in Italy and in the world on the
23rd of October 2004
