“Not only can they not find WMD in Iraq,” I commented to E. as we listened to the Bush speech, “But they have disappeared from his speeches too!” I was listening to the voiceover on Arabiya, translating his speech to Arabic. He was recycling bits and pieces of various speeches he used over two years.
E., a younger cousin, and I were sitting around in the living room, sprawled on the relatively cool tiled floor. The electricity had been out for 3 hours and we couldn’t turn on the air (…)

George Bush proved one thing tonight. He cares not what the American people think, and he further thinks they are too stupid to realize when they are being (…) -

The story continues:
“President George W. Bush said on Thursday he wanted answers on whether Iranian President-elect Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was a leader in the 1979 U.S. Embassy siege as some former hostages have said.”

By Peter Fredson
June 30, 2005
A comment from a reporter concerning George W. Bush’s speech on June 27th was that he was “ebullient.” . My collegiate dictionary describes ebullience as “A boiling up or over: overflow.” While ebullient is a “boiling up or causing such action; hence, manifesting exhilaration or excitement, as of feeling.”
My computer WORD thesaurus describes ebullient as “cheerful, happy, fun, jovial, bright, and cheery.” I thought all those (…) -
Mr President, I’ll fly my flag at half staff on July 4
30 June 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
1 commentI was struck by the demeanor of the 700 soldiers in dress uniform attending the President’s speech last night at Ft Bragg. They were polite. The singular time there was applause came at the prompting of a White House Advance team person.
The soldiers were the dignity and nobility in that room last night. Their Commander in Chief, our President seems to have a way with exploiting the dignity of our military and our loved ones deployed who are doing the grist of the ’hard work’ . The litany (…)
