America’s Hidden Role in Hamas’s Rise to Power
By Stephen Zunes, AlterNet. Posted January 3, 2009.
No one in the mainstream media or government is willing to acknowledge America’s sordid role interfering in Palestinian politics. Tools
Editor’s note: In the U.S., the claim that the actions of Hamas forced Israel to launch a massive assault on the impoverished population of Gaza is almost universally accepted. But, as scholar Stephen Zunes explains below, the picture of Hamas as an (…) -
No Victors in the War on Dissent
8 January 2009 par (Open-Publishing)
Among the wars currently being fought by the American government is one in which there can be no winners. Our prior law enforcement experiences warn us that the “war on terrorism” has spawned an internal “war on dissent” in which everyone loses.
Author William John Cox’s law enforcement career spanned 40 years, the early part of which was spent as a Los Angeles police officer and which included direct policing of both the riots and terrorist incidents in that city in the late 60’s to (…) -
Connecting the Dots

It seems I can’t even watch TV news anymore, it just makes me too angry, the cluelessness of the government. I voted for change, not a slight alteration but for change. I sit here in this tiny berg of Powder Springs and I ask myself, “Why is it that I can see these things and these highly-paid experts and analysts don’t?”
I see an economy coming apart at the seams and the politicians of both parties are talking about it as if it’s some (…) -

US, Israeli leaders must be tried at ICC: Chavez
Tue, 06 Jan 2009 22:57:33 GMT
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has said US and Israeli leaders must be tried at the International Criminal Court so the world’s collective conscience can rest in peace.
Israel is carrying out a holocaust in Gaza, Chavez added.
According to Prensa Latina, Chavez told reporters that the international community needs to take US President George W. Bush and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to court for (…) -
The CIA Wouldn’t Lie to Us, Would They?

I guess that all depends on who they’re talking to; they lie to suit their purpose and tell the truth when it fits their needs. If you were to ask a government official, “Are UFO’s real?” they would smile a paternalistic smile and maybe even roll their eyes a little and say, “No Virginia, UFO’s aren’t real.”
Then this same government would publish a FEMA manual of procedures for firefighters on what to do if they encounter an (…) -

"Seven Palestinian children and six adults died today in Israeli bombardment of the Gaza Strip from air, land and sea, as President Sarkozy of France prepared for a unilateral diplomatic mission to the region.
Houses, mosques and tunnels were hit as the Israelis continued to fire into the densely populated Palestinian territory in the hopes of damaging the militant group Hamas.

Dear George W. Bush,
Congressman Barney Frank said recently that Barack Obama’s declaration that "there is only one president at a time" over-estimated the number. He was referring to the economic crisis. But where are you on the Gaza crisis where the civilian population of Gaza, its civil servants and public facilities are being massacred and destroyed respectively by U.S built F-16s and U.S. built helicopter gunships. Dumbocracy By David Glenn Cox http://theservantsofpilate.com
"You don’t have to pass an IQ test to be in the Senate,” Senator Mark Pryor once said. If ever there was one word of truth emitting from the halls of congress, this was it. I’ve heard it said that democracy works best in small groups, but you couldn’t prove it by me. With my family of four in tow I would take them out to dinner using the democratic model by which we would decide on pizza. Then the discussion would begin on (…)
