We live in an age of cynicism, so cynical we admit defeat without really trying, I want to be an optimist, I do but the case against it is so strong. We forget that victory is immersed in defeat, the sapping of your enemy’s strength the blunting of his plans by nothing more than your damn insistence and refusal to admit defeat.
The pages of history are full of events where the little guy without a chance of victory destroyed the stronger opponent through shear obstinatnance. During the (…)

IN AMERICA "ANYONE" can be President, EXCEPT:
4 June 2007 par (Open-Publishing)
This time around, because of Fred Thompson, Hillary and Obama, the magic rules "could" be broken...but don’t bet on it.
You can be President, only IF...you’re not:
BALD
IN NEED OF GLASSES
MISSING TEETH
FAT
UNDER 5’ 8"
USING A VISIBLE CANE OR WHEELCHAIR
GAY
SINGLE
WITHOUT CHILDREN
A LIBERTARIAN
A NON CHRISTIAN (ESPECIALLY AN ATHIEST)
A WOMAN
BLACK, BROWN, OR ORIENTAL
A NERD

First criminal convictions from Ohio’s stolen 2004 election confirm recount was rigged
by Bob Fitrakis & Harvey Wasserman January 27, 2007
The first felony convictions of two Cleveland poll workers stemming from Ohio’s stolen 2004 election confirm that the official recount in that contested vote was, in the words of county prosecutors, "rigged." The question now is whether further prosecutions will reach higher up in the ranks of officials who may have been involved in illegalities (…) -
HOW THE GREAT AMERICAN MYTH HAS BEEN EXPOSED AT LAST
3 June 2007 par (Open-Publishing)
5 commentsIn a strange way, George Bush has been instrumental, though his plethora of lies to his people and to the world at large, in dismembering the Great American Myth.
I should say "Myths",because there are many false aspects involved.
There was a time in our history when we really DID stand for something. We had noble intent at any rate. Our citizens 100 years ago had a much broader vocabulary and were more inventive and industrious. We had foreign policies which often involved serious and (…) -

Drifting overhead through two centuries on warm summer breezes like butterflies wisps of cotton from the cracked fingers of black African hands with faces reflecting over the oil-slicked seas to Ms. Liberty likewise a heartbeat of drums in the distance chanting a magical reality through ages above monuments & asphalt horizons challenging: "what planet are you from?"

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. - Truth Wins Out announced its strong and committed opposition today to President George W. Bush’s nomination for U.S. Surgeon General, Dr. James W. Holsinger, after it was revealed that he started a church in Lexington, Kentucky that has a ministry to "cure" gay people.

"Good Riddance Attention Whore"

I have endured a lot of smear and hatred since Casey was killed and especially since I became the so-called "Face" of the American anti-war movement. Especially since I renounced any tie I have remaining with the Democratic Party, I have been further trashed on such "liberal blogs" as the Democratic Underground. Being called an "attention whore" and being told "good riddance" are some of the more milder rebukes.
I have come to some heartbreaking conclusions this Memorial (…) -
Franco – Arab Ties Could Yet Survive Sarkozy’s U-Turn
27 May 2007 par (Open-Publishing)
1 commentBy Nicola Nasser*
The defensive and guarded Arab reaction to the self-pronounced and reported pro-Israel and pro-America statements of Nicolas Paul Stephane Sarkozy de Nagy-Bocsa, who was sworn in as the new President of France on May 16, as well as his Jewish connection and that of his foreign policy team, have alerted Arab capitals and public opinion to a possibly imminent break with his country’s more than a five-decade old balanced approach to Arab conflicts and the Arab – Israeli (…) -
The Case For Insanity
26 May 2007 par (Open-Publishing)
3 commentsWe bandy around the word insane, we call those who disagree with use crazy. We have a stereotyped image of a crazy person cowering in a fetal position gibbering incoherently. But mental illness and insanity are real, and at the highest levels of government are more than just debilitating they are threatening for the peaceful existence of the planet it’s self.
What sets mental illness apart is from physical illness is the ability of the person to hide the symptoms of the disease. For (…) -
SEPTEMBER SONG:Bush and Patreaus are Ready
25 May 2007 par (Open-Publishing)
Today, looking blustery and disturbed, George Bush took the podium in the Rose Garden and made a rank fool of himself yet again under fire from the usually wimpy Washington Press Corps.
Bush looked every bit like the well known horse who was "rode hard and put up wet". He was unusually rambly in his smirky responses to questions which were often barely polite. He kept mentioning al Qaeda and 9/11 and how we can’t give up the noble fight. He also stated that the American people whom he (…)
