"It rained all night the day I left, the weather it was dry..." (from the song, Oh Susannah!)
There’s an Italian expression, which, translated, says "If it’s not soup it’s wet bread". The rough English version would read: Even if something looks different, it’s often the same.
Our inept and lamentable media is playig word games in the same fashion. No matter whether they say "We’re leaning or tipping toward a civil war in Iraq", or "We’re headed for a civil war" or "We’re on the brink of a civil war"..let’s face it, the message is clear. We are IN a civil war!
The definition of civil war is one political or religious faction warring against another for power or because of insult...or both. If we’re not there now..then when? Once engaged, combatants cannot wtihdraw without losing face..and we all know (just look at Bush), how hard it is to lose face.
That may be just one of the many reasons why just today a Zoggby poll stated that 72% of Americans troops in Iraq want to end the war this year. They don’t want to lose face either, but don’t want to lose their lives for a lost cause either!
Scientists say the bumble bee cannot fly based on weight to wingspan ratio, but the bee goes right ahead and flies anyway! Pundits can spend the next year telling us why Iraq is not engaged in a full blown civil war, but that won’t alter the fact one bit.
