In the councils of government,we must guard against the acquasition of unwarranted influence,whether sought or unsought,by the military industrial complex The potential for the disasterous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.
Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defence with our peaceful methods and goals.(Dwight D.Eisenhower).

At precisely 16.30 UTC on this day in 2001;
1) 50 Tomahawk cruise missiles were fired from US and UK submarines.
2) 15 Strike Aircraft flew cover and dropped bombs
3) 25 Bombers: B-1 Lancer, B-2 Spirit, B-52 Stratofortress and F-16 Fighting Falcons
make up the first raid.
Shortly after that 15,000 pound daisy cutter bombs were unloaded.
AC-130 Gunships and a wide use of cluster bombs were also dropped.
This will be remember in Afghanistan as another day of "Enduring Misery."
At the hands of foreigners.

In keeping with the theme of The Military Industrial Complex I did a quick check on the cost of only one of the systems identified as being used in Afghanistan.
Are you ready for this:
One Raytheon Tomahawk cruise missile =$ 1,900.000. I don’t know if this is wholesale, retail or if a discount is offered for a bulk purchase.
The cost of developing and upgrading this system is $11,210.000.000.
More details at wikepedia.
cheers, jt.
