What Bush’s Open Mike Revealed By Robert Scheer Posted on July 18, 2006 Editor’s note: In the midst of a Middle Eastern crisis that threatens to destabilize the entire region and perhaps beyond, it was unnerving that what most seemed to interest President Bush at the G8 summit is that China is a long flight from Western Russia. Bombs were exploding and innocents dying, from Beirut to Haifa to Baghdad, and yet George Bush managed to pose for yet another photo op, smiling as he gave the (…)

8 commentsCongressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) will introduce a resolution in Congress on Wednesday that calls on President Bush to appeal to all sides for a cessation of hostilities in the Israeli-Lebanon conflict and to commit the United States to multi-party negotiations.
Also, at bottom, read the speech that Rep. Kucinich delivered on the House floor on Tuesday that warned of “mutually assured destruction” if saner heads do not soon prevail in the Middle East.

19 July 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
The Hidden War On Women In Iraq By Ruth Rosen TomDispatch July 13, 2006 Abu Ghraib. Haditha. Guantanamo. These are words that shame our country. Now, add to them Mahmudiya, a town 20 miles south of Baghdad. There, this March, a group of five American soldiers allegedly were involved in the rape and murder of Abeer Qassim Hamza, a young Iraqi girl. Her body was then set on fire to cover up their crimes, her father, mother, and sister murdered. The rape of this one girl, if proven true, is (…)

Israel’s War Is Not Ours
19 July 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
Israel’s War Is Not Ours Ilana Mercer Tuesday, July 18, 2006 It’s ominous to hear prominent American neoconservatives speak of Israel’s war as our own and the conflagration in the region as the commencement of WWIII. “What’s under attack,” writes William Kristol, “is liberal democratic civilization.”

18 July 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
1 commentTHE UN Security Council has again rejected pleas that it call for an immediate cease-fire between Israel and Lebanon after the United States objected, diplomats said overnight. Washington argued in closed-door talks that the focus for Middle East diplomacy for now should be on the weekend summit in St Petersburg of the Group of Eight industrialised nations, council diplomats said.
It was the sole member of the 15-nation UN body to oppose any council action at all at this time, they said. (…) -
How Many? (apologies to Bob Dylan)
17 July 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
How many buildings must be blown down before this war is done? and how many kids must die needlessly, victims of bomb or of gun? Yes, how many terrorists on BOTH sides will continue actions insane? The answer my friend is blowin’ in the wind... the answer is blowin’ in the wind. How many politicians will fight in any offensive they start? and how many rich kids go off to these wars we know...they don’t go (that is smart!) How many more deaths and rapes will it take.. to make this world (…)

The wars on Iraq, the wars on Lebanon
17 July 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
9 commentsIn the last 3 decades, two major wars were raged against Iraq. The 1st war was on Jan 91 when Mr. Bush, the father, and allied forces organized that war to force the withdrawal of Iraqi army from Kuwait. At that time USA refused any negotiation with Iraq and insisted on war. In that war, the USA army targeted bridges, refineries, electric power stations, factories and other infrastructures instead of the Iraqi troops in Kuwait. When the Iraqi troops seized fire and started withdrawal, then (…)
