As the result of Israel’s overreactive attack on Gaza and then on Lebanon, already causing many inncocent’s deaths (accidents, of course!), the absurd war on Hezbellah and Hamas has seriously escalated and brought out a hoard of political pundits for their erudite pronouncements.
Not the least of these theories is that IRAN is guilty of supplying weapons and cash to terrorists (true), but they may well, according to some Right wingers, enter into Lebanon, then cross the border into Israel, (…)

Israeli Aggression Raises Tensions
13 July 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
1 commentThe Israelis have launched a series of punitive raids in Lebanon following the kidnapping of two Israelis soldiers along a contested portion of its border.
Hezbullah fighters apparently found the soldiers more or less alone and unsupported, which raises suspicions about the willingness of the Israelis to expose their soldiers to danger.
The Israelis have lashed out at Beirut and the Lebanese government for failing to police their southern border; escalation involves destruction of the (…) -

PLO-U.S. Connection: Time to Make or Break
By Nicola Nasser*
Several indicators have shown recently how fragile has been the “connection” between the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and the United States. And because Washington could deliver but won’t and the Palestinian people could not be held forever hostage to waiting for the American Godot, time seems ripe to make or break this futile connection.
To the disappointment of the PLO leaders the “connection” never developed to (…) -

It promises to be a long summer. We’re almost at the mid-way point, but it feels like the days are just crawling by. It’s a combination of the heat, the flies, the hours upon hours of no electricity and the corpses which keep appearing everywhere.
The day before yesterday was catastrophic. The day began with news of the killings in Jihad Quarter. According to people who live there, black-clad (…) -

Climate Change and Geoengineering ‘intentional large scale manipulation of the global environment’
by Wayne Hall One element that is missing from ecological and social movement discussion about climate change is ‘geoengineering’. ‘Geoengineering’ is one of the words used for techniques being proposed more and more frequently by scientists and commercial journalists as a ‘politically realistic’ remedy for climate change.
An article recently published in the magazine Popular Science (…) -

Good Stuff is happening, or should I say Bad Stuff is NOT happening...sort of.
Afghanistan isn’t yet back in the hands of the Taliban, and Karzai is still asking for foreign investment and promising to stop the drug trade.
Israel hasn’t nuked Lebanon or Palestine yet. AND, that soldier may yet be alive!
Iran has quieted down for a spell. No threats to bomb Israel or attack the USA.

Thanks, George Bush And Joe Lieberman By SusanUnPC, Author, No Quarter Monday, 10 July 2006 at 12:22 Iraq is madness. In the thread below, we began discussing the NYT story, "Baghdad Erupts in Mob Violence," which also features an unforgettable, searing image of the raped and murdered 14-year-old Iraqi GIRL (not woman, as if that much-discussed debate point mattered). Now this from the LA Times today, described by a diarist at Daily Kos:
"Confidential documents that were obtained by the (…) -
Was Bob Woodward Slam-Dunked?

Was Bob Woodward Slam-Dunked? by Robert Parry July 11, 2006 One of the most memorable behind-the-scenes accounts of pre-Iraq War decision-making was Bob Woodward’s story of an Oval Office meeting on Dec. 21, 2002, when George W. Bush and his top advisers reviewed the CIA’s case against Saddam Hussein for supposedly hiding weapons of mass destruction. Using flip charts, deputy CIA director John McLaughlin presented the evidence while President Bush watched impatiently. When McLaughlin (…)

GLOBAL WARMING IS TOO SERIOUS TO BE LEFT TO THE POLITICIANS. HEREWITH A SCIENTIFIC SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. (IF THERE IS A PROBLEM, THAT IS.)
Society’s emissions of carbon dioxide may or may not turn out to have something significant to do with global warming—the jury is still out. As a scientist, I must stand silent on this issue until it’s resolved scientifically. As a citizen, however, I can tell you that I’m (…)
