Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister says Israel’s arsenals of weapons of mass destruction are the most serious threat to global security.
Abbas Araqchi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, said Israel has refused to join the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) and has stockpiled weapons of mass destruction which makes the Zionist Regime the biggest obstacle to the disarmament process in the region.
Araqchi made the remarks in the 12th annual conference of members of the Chemical Weapons Convention, which began November 5 in The Hague and will continue until November 10.
He called for the dismantling of chemical arsenals across the world, especially in the US, in accordance with the deadline set by the convention.
Araqchi said Iranian civilians were the victims of chemical weapons used by Saddam’s regime during the Iran-Iraq war of 1980-1988.
He urged the international community to support the establishment of an international organization to help those affected by chemical weapons, as proposed by the Iranian foreign minister.
Araqchi concluded that the suppliers of chemical weapons to Saddam should be brought to justice to prevent future disasters.
