TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- An Iranian Parliament member called on the world of Islam to impose political and economic sanctions on Saudi Arabia due to the stances adopted by Riyadh on recent Middle-East crisis.

Speaking to FNA in the northwestern city of Zanjan on Saturday, Raf’at Bayat reminded that the war between Israel and Hezbollah is a clash between two opposing schools of thought.

She further demanded that Hezbollah should not be left alone as it is defending the entire Muslim world.

Criticizing Saudi Arabia for its stances in the face of the Israeli invasion of Lebanon and the Zionist army’s aggressions against the Palestinians, the MP stressed that the world of Islam must boycott Riyadh and continued, "This year, no Muslim should go on pilgrimage to the holy Mecca and all the relevant costs of such pilgrims should be allocated to the reconstruction of Lebanon."

Bayat also stated that the Muslim world must strike a heavy economic blow at Saudi Arabia so as to drive it into isolation.

Elsewhere, the representative of Zanjan and Tarom at the Islamic Consultative Assembly lashed out at the United Nations and said, "This organization (the UN) has unfortunately turned into an instrument used by some states. Therefore, its title must be changed."

She further called on the world community to put an end to the operation of the UN Security Council, and continued, "A new world organization which can defend the interests of all countries must be created."

The parliament deputy also demanded the Islamic countries to stay with the Lebanese and defend Lebanon with maximum power and to the last.
