Despite repeated international calls for a halt in the expansion of settlements, Israel continues the construction of illegal buildings in the occupied West Bank.
Defense Minister Ehud Barak approved the construction of 240 new homes in the West Bank on Tuesday, Haaretz reported.
Based on the report 60 of the 300 homes slated for the Talmon settlement have already been built.
While the international community including the US, Israel’s closes ally, has been calling for a complete freeze in the expansion of the settlements in the occupied West Bank, Israel insists that it will continue the construction work to meet the demands caused by "natural growth."
Israel’s settlement activities have been widely regarded as the main obstacle in the way of Middle East peace process.
The World Court has also ruled all settlements illegal under international law.

Both Barak and Netanyahu are relics of another age, when Zionism was a magnet for Jewish youth around the world, imbued with good intentions and idealism for a better world - for themselves and all others who had suffered during a devastating world war. That was over 60 years ago before Netanyahu or Barak were born and Zionism was a movement of which to be proud.
Slowly, ever so slowly, the realization gradually dawns - even among conservative Jews in NY and CA - that Israel’s government has no intention whatsoever to collaborate in the establishment of an autonomous Palestinian state. Ever.
The answer now must be for the US to stop all aid and trade without further delay. Take the Israeli government by the neck and bring it back into the community of nations and let the Middle East and the world progress. Political Zionism is as dead as Communism.

"...Political Zionism is as dead as Communism...."
Not really. Joe Biden is a self-proclaimed zionist. Rahm Emmanuel is the son of an Israeli zionist terrorist and a zionist himself. AIPAC is a cover for the Mossad and more influential of the US government than its own citizens.
Zionism isn’t dead, it’s morphing into One world government. Laws against questioning the holocaust have been passed in 30 countries. Strange thing for truth to need law to protect it. Cleverly disguised ’hate laws’ being passed to resist any criticism of zionism or those who embrace its insidious tenets, israel or jews in general. Even Antonin Scalia recently quoted the Talmud (the zionist bible) Quite the contrary. Zionism is far from dead and its tentacles reach into untold high places infecting those charged with upholding justice with a jaded world view in which one people are better than the rest; a sick, dangerous and counterproductive, not to mention completely wrong, view.

A great deal of your comment has substance but as political Zionism is as far removed from Judaism as NY is from LA, the thrust of your argument should in reality deal with the role of Israel in the context of the international community. Albeit that it relies for its support, money and arms on AIPAC controlled congressmen.
That Israel is now estimated to be the 5th most powerful nuclear state on the planet is a very sobering fact that should scare everyone to death - but it doesn’t because it is not given adequate publicity.
When the world finally comes to its senses and realizes that a tiny Mediterranean state of just 6 million people in just 20,000 sq m of land has an arsenal capable of destroying over half the world - it will be too late. Far too late.

Indeed and the Zionist controlled Israel will take half the world down with them before they’ll agree to account for their lies and war crimes and crimes against humanity.
I never said Judaism was the cause. Though the vast majority of Zionists are Jewish by ’religion’, it is not Judaism that is to blame.
Zionism is to Judaism what Jim Jones was to Christianity.
