Neocons Polishing Iranian Attack Plans?

Wars and conflicts International USA

There is no evidence of a country having benefitted from prolonged warfare.

Sun Tzu Wu

Americans, dizzy from all the conflicting "War on Terror" reportage, were recently assured by numerous, customarily reliable sources that the Neocons no longer held the reins of the empire. Indeed, even the Neocons said so themselves. Witness their Exhibit A: the premature resignation of PNAC, which they ran from as if it were an unattended backpack in an airport. This from a group of fellows routinely prescribing aggression and warfare while calling critics unpatriotic. How odd, they cut and run from their own base. Hmmmm!

Don’t be fooled, however, it’s just a bit of clever theatricality. They may have changed face paint and banners, but their aim to spread American neoimperialism around the world has not diminished one iota. The war drums are beating furiously in the back of the White House. But time is running out. Sen. John Warner has challenged W, recommending that at least 5,000 troops come home by Christmas. And the infamous Sep. report is due, which, presumably, will underscore abject failure on the part of the Iraqi government to, well, act like a real government. That doesn’t leave much time to initiate yet another unjust war, this time against Iran.

The Neocons had been hoping that by now Iranian forces would’ve been more clearly associated with killing U.S. troops and aiding the guerillas. Give the Weekly Standard credit for bolstering the charge: http://www.weeklystandard.com/Conte...

In part, the Surge was an effort to draw out those rogue Iranian forces and accentuate the need to halt Iran’s aggression. But, all too quickly, the war is winding down; the rationality for it having run out of steam. And thus the Administration, particularly Chickenhawk Cheney, who by the way received 5 different deferments from the draft as a youth advocating the war in Vietnam, has precious little time to enact Plan B: Bomb Iran.

From a Neoconistic point of view, Plan B is absolutely necessary, that is if you believe it’s America’s role to reshape the Middle East, sort of like what clandestine militias, along with the help from companies like ITT and United Fruit, did in South and Central America in the 50s. That worked out really well, huh?

But, no you skeptics, this time it’s going to be different. Why? Because despite all that passion for Shiria you hear from Muslims all over the world, Cheney’s astute focus group sessions actually found out that Muslims really crave Western movies - yes those kinds of Westerns - short skirts and fast food. Not only that, after repeated viewings of Coors Lite commercials they even display a willingness to drink beer, and, occasionally, eat bacon. Yep. In the twinkling of an eye, once the U.S. forces defeat those insidious terrorists, the Islamic masses will embrace secular Western modernity. Bet on it, if you’ve got any spare wooden nickels laying around.

Some of you cynical types are probably thinking that increased U.S. attacks harden the opposition, producing even more candidates for terrorism. That’s just what those soft liberal bloggers want you to believe. Don’t be fooled; the Necons have done their homework and have in their very posession the requisite jus ad bellum - Just War theory - for these troubled circumstances. It’s clear to them, and, of course, will become clear to the rest of the world that only through bloodshed and mayhem can Democracy be spread around the globe, and, in the meantime, Zionism be saved from Iranian nukes. In case you forgot, Cheney served on the board of the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs. Two birds, one stone. Two wars, one enemy, or so they’d have us believe.

It’s sad to see the inevitable momentum build for WWIII when, only two years ago, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, the President of Spain, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the PM of Turkey, and Mohammad Khatami, the former President of Iran, were unified by the Alliance of Civilizations - an official U.N. group formulated to counter the logic of the Clash of Civilizations. See: http://www.unaoc.org/. It’s also pathetic that such an organization wasn’t formulated by Americans in the great conciliatory spirit of Lincoln and Martin Luther King, Jr. And it seems terribly strange and alien to Americans of all kinds, who grew up in a culture that overcame pronounced differences for the sake of achieving a workaday peace, that America’s elite "leaders" have foresaken the olive branch for the "smart" bomb.

Are there enough sensible people out there - in the military, in Congress, in positions of power - to halt this suicidal mission? Is it possible that wisdom will prevail and the individuals with the buttons for destruction will refuse to obey such a ludicrous order? Is it possible Cheney will come to his senses, and realize that it’s, as they say, a Lose Lose situation? Yeah, dream on. The Neocons haven’t been stopped yet, and they’re not going to be stopped until they’re turned over the apple cart. That’s the history of ideologues, convinced of their righteousness and superiority.

Read them and weep:

  • First of all these ’neocons’ (a misnomer, the correct term is Trotskyite or neofascist) don’t give a rat’s ass about civil liberties or democracy, after all they created that attack on our constitution called ’The US Patriot (sic) Act’.
Second of all, how many foreign central banks will be financing this deficit ridden US military machine if they do attack Iran?
You can count on the Chinese to pull their $1.3 trillion out of the US treasury in a heart beat if the US is stupid enough to attack Iran, a nation whose oil the Chinese covet. How long can the US federal government last without half of the foreign holdings in the US treasury?
How long will the US dollar last without foreign investments?
These neofascists are even stupider than we realize.
