New Iraqi Army arrests 150 of the old army officers
This is the 5th day of the military mission against the Ninavah Province (400Km north of Baghdad ). The army of the Maliky government has arrested of 150 officers of the former Iraqi army, as well as university professors, and many of the guards of mosul university. The total arrests add to 580 person. These men have no crime but they happen to participate in the Iraq-Iran war more than 20 years ago. Their arrest are not based on court ruling, nor it came after any accusations. The fact that there was no fighting during these arrests ( as it happened in the recent missions on Basrah and Al-Sader city/Baghdad) proves that those are innocent people that could not even defend themselves. These arrests are based on allegations promoted by the will to take revenge from all former officers who are not part of the governing parties that are backed by Iran . With such military arrests, Al-Maliky government is trying to silence and may liquidate those who are suspected of being opponent to the ruling parties.

We hereby ask you to act to safeguard those innocent people, who suffered a lot in the last 5 years as they were expelled from their jobs. Now they may lose their lives as they are in the hands of military men that are backed party militias.

We look forward to your fast response before they are killed and blaming the killers will give no excuse.
