Obama betrays humanity - 1,460 die avoidably daily in Occupied Palestinian, Iraqi & Afghan Territories

Wars and conflicts International Governments USA

Obama could stop the carnage in the Occupied Palestinian, Iraqi and Afghan Territories tomorrow but he won’t. UN data indicate that there is a total of 1,000 excess under-5 infant deaths daily and 1,460 total excess deaths daily in these Occupied Territories. Accordingly, Obama has caused 40,000 under-5 year infant deaths and a total of over 58,000 excess deaths in the Occupied Palestinian, Iraqi and Afghan Territories in just his first 40 days in office.

After 40 days in office, Obama has egregiously disappointed decent anti-racist, humanitarian, pro-Peace people around the world by his Bush-ite policies of continuing wars and occupations in the Occupied Palestinian, Iraqi and Afghan Territories; his failure to address the war crimes of his predecessors; his gross mismanagement of the economy in favour of bankers rather than banks and the people; and his ignoring of egregious racism, human rights violations, US Alliance genocide, global avoidable mortality, biofuel genocide and looming climate genocide (that will kill all but about 1 billion mostly White folks on the Planet by century’s end (see:"Obama’s failure on War, Economy & Climate Genocide": http://mwcnews.net/content/view/288... ).

The Bush Administration and now the Obama Administration and their Bush-ite and neo-Bushite Allies throughout the Western World are guilty of immense crimes against humanity in the ongoing Iraqi Genocide, Afghan Genocide and the linked, US- and US Alliance-backed Apartheid Israeli Palestinian Genocide.

Obama is continuing the Bush Wars - apparently indefinitely - in all major zones, namely Occupied Palestine, Occupied Iraq, Occupied Afghanistan and US robot-bombed Waziristan, NW Pakistan .

Obama has just sought another $205 billion for continuation of the Bush Wars in Occupied Iraq and Occupied Afghanistan (see: http://www.reuters.com/article/poli... ); he will withdraw 100,000 of the 140,000 US forces in Occupied Iraq, leaving as many as 50,000 behind indefinitely as "trainers" (see: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090228... ) and against the overwhelming wishes of the Indigenous Iraqis for the US to leave as expressed in numerous polls; he will expand the US war in Occupied Afghanistan (despite extraordinary Indigenous Afghan resistance, for which there is ample precedent in the last 2 centuries; see “Body Count. Global avoidable mortality since 1950”: http://mwcnews.net/Gideon-Polya and http://globalbodycount.blogspot.com/) ; he is expanding US robot bombing of the NW Pakistani Provinces (despite vigorous protest from the democratically-elected government of Pakistan: http://imeu.net/news/article005709.shtml ); and he is diplomatically, financially and militarily backing Apartheid Israel’s continued illegal, highly abusive, murderous and war criminal occupation of the Occupied Palestinian Territory against International Law, International Conventions and UN Resolutions (e.g. see the 1968 UN Security Council Resolution 252: http://imeu.net/news/article005709.shtml which clearly states that “the acquisition of territory by military conquest is inadmissible”).

Obama has taken on board the goals in Occupied Iraq of the evil Bush Administration and is furthering those goals, albeit with an eye on America’s horrendous foreign debt. Thus, in announcing the US ‘withdrawal” Obama stated (see: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090227... ): “What we will not do is let the pursuit of the perfect stand in the way of achievable goals. We cannot rid Iraq of all who oppose America or sympathize with our adversaries. We cannot police Iraq’s streets until they are completely safe, nor stay until Iraq’s union is perfected …America’s men and women in uniform have fought block by block, province by province, year after year, to give the Iraqis this chance to choose a better future. Now, we must ask the Iraqi people to seize it."

One hopes that this confession of complicity in war crimes by Obama will be entered into evidence when Obama is eventually arraigned as a war criminal before the International Criminal Court.

Top US law academic Professor Marjorie Cohn (professor at Thomas Jefferson School of Law, President of the National Lawyers Guild) has made a powerful and expert case for immediate initiation of investigations and prosecutions of Bush Administration office holders, officials and advising lawyers over torture (see Marjorie Cohn, MWC News, “War criminals, including their lawyers, must be prosecuted“: http://mwcnews.net/content/view/286... ) .

Professor Marjorie Cohn (author of the books “Cowboy Republic: Six Ways the Bush Gang Has Defied the Law” (2007), which examines allegations of serious violations of the law by the Bush Administration, and “Rules of Disengagement” (2008; co-authored with Kathleen Gilberd ) ) cites post-war war crime proceedings as a precedent for prosecuting not just the Administration officials but the lawyers who advised them: “When the United States ratified the Convention Against Torture, we promised to extradite or prosecute those who commit, or are complicit in the commission, of torture. We have two federal criminal statutes for torture prosecutions – the Torture Statute and the War Crimes Act (torture is considered a war crime under U.S. law). The Torture Convention is unequivocal: nothing, including a state of war, can be invoked as a justification for torture. Yoo redefined torture much more narrowly than U.S. law provides, and counseled the White House that it could evade prosecution under the War Crimes Act by claiming self-defense or necessity. Yoo knew or should have known of the Torture Convention’s absolute prohibition of torture. There is precedent for holding lawyers criminally liable for giving legally erroneous advice that resulted in great physical or mental harm or death. In U.S. v. Altstoetter, Nazi lawyers were convicted of war crimes and crimes against humanity for advising Hitler on how to “legally” disappear political suspects to special detention camps”.

However Obama is non-committal in relation to investigation and prosecution of former Bush Administration officials over torture and other war crimes. Obama (strong on rhetoric and lousy on action) stated when asked about this: “My view is also that nobody’s above the law and, if there are clear instances of wrongdoing, that people should be prosecuted just like any ordinary citizen . But, generally speaking, I’m more interested in looking forward than I am in looking backwards” (see: http://mwcnews.net/content/view/286... ) .

Decent people around the World are demanding war crimes trials of the Bush Gang and their war criminal Allies, not just for torture and related Human Rights abuses but also for horrendous mass murder in violation of the Geneva Convention, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the UN Charter.

The Bush Gang should be prosecuted over mass murder before the International Criminal Court (in absentia if necessary) for their involvement in the ongoing Palestinian, Iraqi and Afghan Genocides (post-invasion non-violent excess deaths 0.3 million, 1 million and 4 million, respectively; post-invasion violent excess deaths 10,000, 1 million and possibly 2 million, respectively [if the Occupied Afghanistan violent/non-violent excess death ratio is HALF that in Occupied Iraq]; post-invasion under-5 year old infant deaths 0.2 million, 0.6 million and 2.1 million, respectively; refugees totalling 7 million, 6 million and 4 million, respectively – Genocides as defined by Article 2 of the UN Genocide Convention (see : 9-11 excuse for US global genocide. The real 9-11 atrocity: millions dead (9-11 million) in Bush wars (1990-2009): http://mwcnews.net/content/view/251... ).

Article 2 of the UN Genocide Convention (see: http://www.edwebproject.org/sidesho...) states: “In the present Convention, genocide means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial or religious group, as such: a) Killing members of the group; b) Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; c) Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; d) Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group; e) Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group."

US National Law provides for the death penalty when US citizens commit war crimes resulting in the deaths of people. Thus according to the Cornell University Law School site (see: http://www4.law.cornell.edu/uscode/... ): ” (a) Offense.— Whoever, whether inside or outside the United States, commits a war crime, in any of the circumstances described in subsection (b), shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for life or any term of years, or both, and if death results to the victim, shall also be subject to the penalty of death.
(b) Circumstances.— The circumstances referred to in subsection (a) are that the person committing such war crime or the victim of such war crime is a member of the Armed Forces of the United States or a national of the United States (as defined in section 101 of the Immigration and Nationality Act).“

Of course, the mass murder by the US, the US Alliance and Apartheid Israel occurs in 2 forms, namely by active killing (by bombs and bullets) and by passive killing (by deprivation and deprivation-exacerbated disease).

World-leading bioethicist philosopher Professor Peter Singer (Princeton University and the University of Melbourne) regards those guilty of either passive or active killing as equally culpable – we are responsible for the mortal consequences of what we do and for what we fail to do, and that those who deliberately take life by withholding life-sustaining requisites (passive killing) are just as morally culpable as those who deliberately act physically to terminate life (active killing).

Thus Professor Singer has stated: “We are responsible not only for what we do but also for what we could have prevented… We should consider the consequences both of what we do and what we decide not to do” (Peter Singer (2000), “Writings on an Ethical Life”, Ecco Press, New York, ppxv-xvi).

More specifically, Professor Singer has said (in relation to medical euthanasia of severely malformed newborn children by non-supply of life-saving requisites): "Doctors who deliberately leave a baby to die when they have the awareness, the ability, and the opportunity to save the baby’s life, are just as morally responsible for the death as they would be if they had brought it about by a deliberate, positive action.”
(Kuhse, H. & Singer, P. (1985), Should the Baby Live? The Problem of Handicapped Infants, Oxford University Press, Oxford, pp84-85).

Articles 55 and 56 of the Geneva Convention Relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War (see: http://www.unhchr.ch/html/menu3/b/92.htm ) make it quite clear that an Occupier must supply life-preserving requisites to its conquered subjects “to the fullest extent of the means available to it”. However what the Catholic Church describes as Israel’s Gaza Concentration Camp has been under US-backed Apartheid Israeli blockade for several years and according to WHO (see: http://www.who.int/en/ ) the “total annual per capita medical expenditure” permitted by the US Alliance Occupiers in the Occupied Iraqi and Afghan Territories is $124 and $29, respectively, as compared to $6,714 for the US.

Consulting UNICEF (see: http://www.unicef.org/infobycountry... ) we find that “annual under-5 year old infant deaths” total 327,000 (Occupied Afghanistan, population 26.088 million), 43,000 (Occupied Iraq, population 28.506 million) and 3,000 (Occupied Palestinian Territory ( population 3.889 million) as compared to 34,000 (the US, population 302.841 million).

Bearing in mind Articles 55 and 56 of the Geneva Convention Relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War (see: http://www.unhchr.ch/html/menu3/b/92.htm ) it is clear that the total “annual under-5 infant deaths” in these US Alliance-occupied Occupied Territories (total population 58.483 million) should be 34,000 x 58.483 million/302.841 million = 6,566 – but in reality it totals 373,000 i.e. there are 373,000 – 6,600 = 366,400 excess under-5 infant deaths annually (about 1,000 daily) due to US Alliance and Apartheid Israeli war crimes that are continuing unabated under Obama.

Obama could stop this carnage right now if he chose to but White Establishment- and racist Zionist (RZ)-beholden "Uncle Tom" Obama chooses not to stop this passive mass murder of Muslim infants. 40 days x 1,000 excess infant deaths per day means that Obama has deliberately and knowingly, passively killed 40,000 under-5 year old Muslim infants in these 3 Occupied territories in the first 40 days alone of his presidency.

Another way of assessing this carnage in a war crimes sense is by consulting the UN Population Division (see: http://esa.un.org/unpp/ ) and estimating the “annual death rate” of under-5 year old infants (i.e. the infant deaths as a percentage of the infant population). The “annual death rate” for under-5 year old infants” is 1.6% (Occupied Palestinian Territory), 2.5% (Occupied Iraq)and 6.3% (Occupied Afghanistan) – as compared to an “annual death rate” of 10% for Australian prisoners of war of the Japanese in World War 2 (for which kind of war crimes Japanese generals were arraigned, tried and hanged).

A further way of analysing the horror of what Obama is doing is by considering the relationship between under-5 infant deaths in impoverished Third World countries and the total avoidable deaths (excess deaths, deaths that should not have happened). For impoverished Third World countries under-5 infant deaths are about 0.7 of the total avoidable deaths (see “Layperson’s guide to counting Iraq deaths”: http://mwcnews.net/content/view/5872/26/). Accordingly, “total avoidable deaths due to deprivation” in these 3 Occupied Territories = 373,000/ 0.7 = 532,857 annually or 1,460 daily.

Obama could stop the carnage but is evidently happy for the carnage to continue and must accordingly must be made to accept responsibility for the carnage – 1,460 excess deaths /day for 40 days = 40 x 1,460 = 58,400 excess deaths (avoidable deaths, deaths that did not have to happen) due to war crimes of the new Obama Administration in its first 40 days.

In his 2005 Nobel Prize Acceptance Speech, the (now late) Harold Pinter declared: “The invasion of Iraq was a bandit act, an act of blatant state terrorism, demonstrating absolute contempt for the concept of international law. The invasion was an arbitrary military action inspired by a series of lies upon lies and gross manipulation of the media and therefore of the public; an act intended to consolidate American military and economic control of the Middle East masquerading as a last resort all other justifications having failed to justify themselves as liberation. A formidable assertion of military force responsible for the death and mutilation of thousands and thousands of innocent people. We have brought torture, cluster bombs, depleted uranium, innumerable acts of random murder, misery, degradation and death to the Iraqi people and call it “bringing freedom and democracy to the Middle East”. How many people do you have to kill before you qualify to be described as a mass murderer and a war criminal? One hundred thousand? More than enough, I would have thought. Therefore it is just that Bush and Blair be arraigned before the International Criminal Court of Justice” (see: http://www.countercurrents.org/arts... ).

After another month Obama will have killed another 44,000 people in the Occupied Palestinian, Iraqi and Afghan Territories i.e. he would have killed more than 100,000 innocent people since taking office as the President of the United States of America (aka the United States of Israel). In the words of the late UK Nobel Laureate Harold Pinter: how many people do you have to kill before you qualify to be described as a mass murderer and a war criminal? One hundred thousand? More than enough, I would have thought. Therefore it is just that Bush and Blair [and Obama] be arraigned before the International Criminal Court of Justice”

It may yet happen that White Establishment- and racist Zionist (RZ)-beholden Uncle Tom Obama will face judgment for mass murder before the International Court of Justice - see how it might happen in the British movie "The Trial of Tony Blair".
