Palestinian day of solidarity with the humanitarian aid workers held hostage in Iraq
by Open-Publishing - Saturday 18 September 2004Invitation to a Day of Solidarity
on 18 September 2004
We, Palestinian civil society organizations together with our Italian
NGO partners, call on you to participate in a Day of Solidarity with
the humanitarian aid workers held hostage in Iraq on Saturday, 18
September 2004.
We, civil society organizations, strongly condemn the kidnapping of
civilians to attain political goals and call for the immediate and
unconditional release of the hostages held in Iraq. We believe
hostage-taking to be harmful to the liberation of Iraq and Iraq’s
struggle for self-determination and freedom.
Civil society in general and humanitarian aid workers in particular
work towards multiplying our efforts to combat the increasing
occurrence of racism, intolerance, violence and war all throughout
the world. The main principle governing our work is the belief that a
dignified and peaceful future is possible and necessary for
everybody.
We call on you to show solidarity with the hostages and their
families as well as the Iraqi people by raising your voices and
participating in the following activities:
1. Ramallah - Rally at Al-Manara Square, 12:00 noon
2. Jerusalem - Candlelight Vigil at Damascus Gate, 20:00
