Recently in a debate Hillary was asked about the increasing pressure her opponents were applying. That’s to be expected, she said, because "I’m winning." Not leading. But winning. Really?
Not one vote has been cast. Not one caucus convened. But, somehow, magically, Hillary proclaims to be winning. You don’t have to be Freud to recognize a textbook example of wish fulfillment when you see it.
The lack of clear differentiation in this case is no mere trifle. It illustrates a fervent sense (…)

Germany’s Greens Turn Left, Avoiding Radical Motions
25.11.2007 Germany’s Greens voted in favor of extending social benefits but rejected a proposal that would guarantee a basic income to everyone at a key party congress that ended in the city of Nuremberg on Sunday, Nov. 25.
The party, in opposition since the September 2005 elections, backtracked from the market reform policies introduced under the last government, when it was the junior partner in Social Democrat (SPD) Chancellor (…) -
HILLARY CLINTON IN ARKANSAS- THE SEEDS OF CORRUPTION By JEFFREY ST CLAIR AND ALEX COCKBURN

COUNTERPUNCH
Second in a three-part series.
In 1990, the National Law Journal ran profiles of "the 100 Most Influential Lawyers in the United States". Hillary Clinton was on the list, and for years she would publicly boast that the Journal had named her one of "the nation’s 100 top lawyers". Finally, the editor of the National Law Journal, Patrick Oster, wrote to Arkansas’ first lady—as she still was in 1991—testily pointing out that the word "influential" is not synonymous with "top" or (…) -

1 commentFrom Nixon Girl to Watergate First in a three-part series.
Hillary Clinton has always been an old-style Midwestern Republican in the Illinois style; one severely infected with Methodism, unlike the more populist variants from Indiana, Wisconsin and Iowa.
Her first known political enterprise was in the 1960 presidential election, the squeaker where the state of Illinois notoriously put Kennedy over the top, courtesy of Mayor Daley, Sam Giancana and Judith Exner. Hillary was a Nixon (…) -

By PAUL KRUGMAN
At just about every stop I’ve made so far on my book tour, what I’ve come to think of as The Question comes up. I talk about the origins of the long right-wing dominance of American politics, and the reasons I believe that dominance is coming to an end. Then someone asks, “How can you be optimistic about the prospects for progressive change, when big money has so much influence on politics?”
It’s a good question.
The public wants change. “If Americans have ever been (…) -

Language Used In Letter Echo’s Offensive 1998 Million Dollar Ex-Gay Campaign
NEW YORK – Truth Wins Out criticized a letter from GLBT advocates and African American preachers defending Barack Obama’s poor decision to offer a platform to virulently anti-gay gospel singer Donnie McClurkin. In an effort to win the crucial Democratic primary in South Carolina, the Obama campaign seems willing to open it’s “big tent” to bigots at the expense of GLBT citizens, (…) -

Hillary’s "Rove" Comes Through for Blackwater

1 commentHave we just had a taste of how influence might be wielded under a Clinton II Administration? In a very successful week for its most notorious client, Mark Penn’s firm was able to get Blackwater CEO Erik Prince several major television appearances. Lob-ball questions were included at no extra charge.

By Leonard Doyle in Washington Published: 19 October 2007
The US arms industry is backing Hillary Clinton for President and has all but abandoned its traditional allies in the Republican party. Mrs Clinton has also emerged as Wall Street’s favourite. Investment bankers have opened their wallets in unprecedented numbers for the New York senator over the past three months and, in the process, dumped their (…) -
PEACE PRIZE AWARDS TO WAR CRIMINALS

Nobel Hypocrisy By Stephen Lendman
Alfred Nobel was a wealthy nineteenth century Swedish-born chemist, engineer, inventor of dynamite, armaments manufacturer and war profiteer who remade his image late in life by establishing the awarding of prizes in his name that includes the one for peace. This most noted award was inspired by his one-time secretary and peace activist, Bertha von Suttner, who was nominated four times and became the first of only 12 women to be honored.
Since it was (…)
