Wire Queen Helen Thomas today ripped into White House spokesman Scott McClellan over his claims the United States is in Afghanistan and Iraq — by invitation.

Q The other day — in fact, this week, you said that we, the United States, is in Afghanistan and Iraq by invitation. Would you like to correct that incredible distortion of American history —

MR. McCLELLAN: No, we are — that’s where we currently —

Q — in view of your credibility is already mired? How can you say that?

MR. McCLELLAN: Helen, I think everyone in this room knows that you’re taking that comment out of context. There are two democratically-elected governments in Iraq and —

Q Were we invited into Iraq?

MR. McCLELLAN: There are two democratically-elected governments now in Iraq and Afghanistan, and we are there at their invitation. They are sovereign governments, and we are there today —

Q You mean if they had asked us out, that we would have left?

MR. McCLELLAN: No, Helen, I’m talking about today. We are there at their invitation. They are sovereign governments —

Q I’m talking about today, too.

MR. McCLELLAN: — and we are doing all we can to train and equip their security forces so that they can provide for their own security as they move forward on a free and democratic future.

Q Did we invade those countries?

MR. McCLELLAN: Go ahead, Steve.

  • Nice work, and research. Excellent writing. I find as you did that over and over and over and over again in history that the same psychopolitical military / religious propganda is used on every generation of unsuspecting working and lower class people. That is why it seems I guess that things like critical analysis of historical record and the discussion of the profits and motivations of war are not chosen as PRIME TIME MATERIAL FOR TELEVISION. Boy would that make really INTERESTING TV. I guess showing up for your defence job would require a "erasure" of your human conciense. — Ok the CIA can provide that too... through drug addiction...

    Overall though I think that it is no accident that in the scope of less than 7 years since Pinky and the Brainz TOOK OFFICE as the pRESIDENT that the following have happend:
    1. Move of major IT operations and jobs overseas - never know when some IT person might become "UNPATRIOTIC"
    2. 9/11 and the entire pretext of "terrorism" as a NEW enemy - one that we can not fight with conventional Bullshit but need a new brand of PsyOps Mind Control warfare for our own citizens - things like we find on:
    3. FoX Views - Fair and Balanced Brain Farting : The CNNl-Corporate New-Speak NueralProgramming Mind Control Machine and host of other Affiliates such as ClearChannel which makes it completely clear what their agenda is.
    4. The Department of HomeLand Security had that very same name in the SS orginization chart set up for Hitler under the Nazis
    5. The statement if you are not "with us then you are a... "terrorist".....- --- sounds like a vielded threat to the American People
    6. The need to embed reporters in a WAR sound like the same that the KGB Russian war reporting bueru... WOW was Communism the real threat or was IT CORPORATIONISM
    7. The fact that corporation operate almost with complete immunity as do their board memebers when making decisions about lifes, resources, and environmental policies (or lack there OF) while some people are being sent to prison for having a marajuana cigarette.??
    8. The rise of Right WIng Radical Groups like the minUTE men - those guys with tiny things --- of a vision of other humans who happen to not want to die in the country that the US exploits more than any other MEXICO.
    9. The rise of debt toward the working person with the simultanous rise in profits for the corporations.
    10. The wearing of little flags, bumper stickers and the "W" sticker everywhere seems that the nation is a corporation brand than a symbol of national unity. YOu know Hitler wore the Swastika armband everywhere he went. Using symbollsm like this harkens back to the days of the pharoh and the images of the gods and goddess everywhere to make their power seem omnipresent. Important if you plan to exploit your own people.

    Overall though the fact that when the government bought into the weapons programs this time around ir started with the surpluses in the Clinton Administration and now under the great Pinky and the Brain we have a bigger NEGATIVE NUMBER that will translate to higher taxes or more spending cuts for the working class both of which are NOW OCCURING....

    Seems that economics is good thing now that I got my job in the defense industry making weapons to kill other human beings that don’t work in the defense industries. What happens when they kill all the opposition what will they turn their weapons on then? Don’t answer that it’s too scarey...??

  • I cannot understand how Scott McClellan can sleep at night. Brave and honest people like Helen Thomas should speak up more often, weasels and worms like McClellan should hide in shame. The world is seeing the worst chapter in US history — even worse than the Nixon fiasco, which came to an end only when some brave and honorable men stood up and did their duty, refusing to be cowed by unconstitutional authority. When is the whole world going to stand up and say, Enough! Stop this sham! Shame on you, liars and hypocrites!
    Impeach Bush! Send all US troops home! End the war in Iraq now!
