Let’s face it, the Neocons were right. After only 4 years in Iraq the isurgents are finally in their last throes. We’re turing the corner, realizing a new way forward, supporting a dynamic new purple democracy (Falwell didn’t like that!),and we’re chasing the terrorists down, smoking them out of their caves and bringing them to justice, after a bried detour to abu Ghraib.
Bush tells us that sectarian violence is down, with only a smattering of blown oil pipelines and bridges, a smidgeon of headless corpses floating in the Tigris, and a tad of mortar attacks in the Green Zone.
Starbucks and Wal-Mart are "poised" to erect brand shiney new edifices the moment Maliki gives the go ahead, and the government, despite the occasional rift, is melding into one quasi mindset.
There is still strong morale among many of our troops, and they all hope that after perhaps only 3 or 4 more tours they’ll come home...hopefully not in a box...to see what loved ones may be left to greet them.
On this Memorial Day let’s put on a happy face, support our troops and President, rally ’round the flag and sing Glory Glory Hallelujah!
Or not!
