There is a popular adage that states: “Only two things are certain—death and taxes.”
Now there is a third: “It is certain that the constitutional rights of the individual will always be sacrificed to appease a governmental and/or economically powerful entity.”
In a recent Pravda.Ru article entitled A TALE OF TWO ACADEMICS, (Parts I and II), I analyzed the diametrical situations faced by two tenured university professors: Ward Churchill and John Yoo.
Churchill was fired from his (…)

PRESS RELEASE OF THE INDEPENDENT STUDENT INITIATIVE FOR THE RIGHT TO FREE EDUCATION

On April 29, I posted this report at BellaCiao:
The April 29 report describes the cancellation of a speech, scheduled for May 2 at the University of Oklahoma, to be given by CIA agent Michael Scheuer. In OU’s promotional announcement about the speech, Scheuer was described as "the long-time chief of the Bin Laden tracking center."
After I started encouraging OU students to ask Scheuer why the CIA did not capture Bin Laden in (…) -

Kern’s Krew Collection of Peeping Toms by James Nimmo
(OKLAHOMA CITY) At the website of Oklahomans for Excellence in Science Education (OESE, http://www.oklascience.org), there is a professional analysis of the latest resurrection of Rep. Sally Kern’s bill that would allow for the recitation of bible verses as "facts" and "evidence" in math and science classes in Oklahoma schools with the teachers forced to accept such balderdash as legitimate answers. Though this bill was vetoed (…) -

“Free Education and Free Healthcare are Fundamental Human Rights”- Interview with Juan Antonio Fernández Palacios, Cuban Ambassador in Geneva
CC.Since the Cuban Revolution in 1959 the country has often been regarded as an appendix of the Soviet Union. After the collapse of the Soviet Union many people in the West expected an end of the cuban socialism. However, 18 years later, the Cuban system still exists, even more solid than before.
After the 1959 revolution the US established (…) -

The Strange Hiring Practices of David Boren at the University of Oklahoma

Michael P. Wright – Norman, Oklahoma, USA – mpwright8@aol.com
The mentor and sponsor of former CIA director George Tenet has been David Boren, a U.S. Senator from Oklahoma. He was elected to three terms. Boren resigned from the Senate in 1994, with two years remaining on the third term. The year earlier he was being outed as queer in the gay press and also accused of sexually harassing his male staff members. For examples of gay publications with this information, see this youtube video (…) -

[On November 22, 2008, I posted the original report about this event at BellaCiao.]
A peculiar email from Paul Bell, a dean at the University of Oklahoma, was sent on Friday, November 21, 2008. Since that time I have obtained verification of it from the OU Open Records Office. It is now scanned and online at this public Facebook album:
The recipients were department chairmen and directors on the Norman campus. I first (…) -
The lot of witnesses that "La Repubblica" is missing
27 November 2008 par (Open-Publishing)
There are many people who have been forced out of their jobs and academic careers, from postgraduate researchers to professors, because of bullying in universities in Britain.
We know that these same problems exist elsewhere around the world and seems to worsen the more neoliberal policies and ideologies are forced upon Higher Education systems. Sometime the problem of bullying and mobbing in the universities around the world is obscured and difficult to translate as behaviours and (…) -

For review, David Boren was a U.S. Senator from Oklahoma from 1979 until he resigned from his third term, two years before it expired, in 1994. In 1993 gay activists had begun to out him and accuse him of sexually harassing his male staff members. For examples of gay publications with this information, see this youtube video and the link to excerpts in the accompanying text box:
Boren resigned from the Senate after successfully (…)
