Ten U.S. troops were killed in three separate incidents yesterday in Iraq as coalition forces battled guerrillas in Baghdad, Mosul, Kirkuk and the western Anbar providence, a hotbed of terrorism.

Eight Marines died during two "security and stabilization operations" near Fallujah.

It was the bloodiest day for U.S. Marines since a car bomb in Fallujah killed eight on Oct. 30.

Earlier yesterday, an Army soldier was killed by a roadside bomb in Baghdad’s Haifa Street district.

Also earlier, a Marine was killed in Anbar.

It was a day of violent clashes throughout Iraq.

In Ramadi, an attack on Iraqi troops resulted in 10 dead, none Americans.

In Fallujah, Marines hit gunmen in the east of the city that once held 200,000 residents.

In Mosul, a U.S. spokesman said Iraqi police repelled a bid to storm a police station. The battle was seen as a reversal of recent fortunes, after a succession of police stations were overrun by insurgents.

In the northern oil capital of Kirkuk, U.S. troops, fearing a car-bomb attack, killed an Iraqi driver and wounded three passengers, including a child.

No explosives were found.

    • Only ten??? Damn why couldn’t it have been 1010 or 10,000...how disappointing. Each day I read the US causualty numbers and wish it could be many more....it is so sad that so far it’s only 1300. It should be 130,000 or 150,000. If there was really a God he would make sure it was 150,000. I guess I will have to be patient and add up the 10 or 15 or 20 each day until I get my wish.
