Home > The US is Losing Iraq
Edito Wars and conflicts International USA
by Ben Frank
"The CIA, the Defense Intelligence Agency and the State Department warned President Bush this week that the United States and its Iraqi allies are not winning the battle against Iraqi insurgents Iraqi insurgents who are trying to derail the country’s Jan. 30 elections." As Mike Rivero at WhatReallyHappened.com pointed out, ’not winning’ equals ’losing’.
On New Year’s Eve it was reported that, "the last six months of 2004 proved the deadliest period for US forces in Iraq, despite the formal end of the US-led occupation in June."

So combine these two facts:
– the CIA, et al agree the US is losing in Iraq
– the 6 months after ’the transfer of sovereignty’ were the deadliest yet
and it is clear that the US is not ’making progress on the ground’ as Bush claims.
The ’occupation is counterproductive’ seems a much more accurate assessment. Who said that? Why it was that ’unelectable’ candidate Dennis Kucinch.
Back in June Kucinich said, "The June 30th sovereignty date this resolution discusses is a hoax. " He was certainly correct with that assessment, maybe Dennis is still on the mark today when he says that, "Free and fair elections cannot, and will not, happen under such conditions. The January election can only be a sham."

Why is America accepting this continuing atrocity perptrated in the name of ’our safety’? Clearly the Bush administration is lying about the "important progress on the ground" in Iraq, why can’t the average American see that they are also lying about why we need to stay?
"We can’t cut and run" sounds good, as does "we’re making progress on the ground," but they are clear fabrications. You know when a child gets caught doing a bad thing, they make stuff up so they won’t get in trouble.... it is very clear that’s what the Bush adminstration is doing on very nearly every issue foreign and domestic.
The reason America continues to remain duped is because all of the ’experts’ on all the tv networks and radio stations agree: ’The President’ is a brave and noble leader, he is ’firm and resolute’, and ’we must not let the terrorists shake our resolve’.
Congress is not investigating and impeaching Bush (like they did Clinton over Lewinsky), so these lies must not be that important. The media is not investigating, and we all know it’s a ’liberal media’, so these tiny white lies about Iraq are ok, because we can’t ’lose our resolve’.
At some point, every American will face the truth of the matter, The Bush team is lying and both Congress and the media covering for them.
If that describes you at this moment, please do not blindly believe me- think for yourself.
This is the logic the media is asking you to believe:
Mr. Bush (who wore a wire in the debate- and still choked) lied and continues to lie about this war, yet he won this election with more votes than any president in history. Now two months after the election he has the lowest approval rating of any 2nd term president. Did he really recieve the most votes in history?
Yet Congressman Kucinich was right about the war before it began - it was an unnecessary war. He was right about the occupation being counterproductive, basically everything he has said about Iraq has been spot on, yet for some reason he was unelectable. Why?
Step back and look at what the billion dollar media corporations are telling you to believe- which makes more sense?
A. Bush’s lies to start the war made him a ’war president’ and therefore tough to beat... or
B. Bush’s lies to start the war made him a ’war criminal’ that should be tried before the ICC
A. Kucinich at 5’ 9" was too short to be an ’electable’ candidate (Bush is 5’ 11")... or
B. Kucinich’s claim that the war was unnecessary and call to pull out of Iraq made him ’unelectable’ to the war profiteers
In both examples, the media has told you that choice A is the logical answer. Choice B was never presented to you. Do you still believe the media?
What can you do about it? Turn off your tv. Turn off NPR and all corporate radio stations. (Yes NPR is just as bad if not worse, it seems to make many people extremely apathetic.)
Get informed, then inform others. Boycott entertainment- it’s just a diversion to keep you occupied while our nation is looted of our cash and children. Have fun creating infotainment- make posters, send emails, freewayblog, burn cds and pass them out- basically give up on mindless diversions for a while in order to educate as many people as possible, to turn off unplug as many tv sets as you can.
Have fun waking up America.

Not ALL of America are accepting the continuos lies fed to us, actually the majority of us are smart enough to know the real truth, and that same MAJORITY didn’t vote for W., only the media also doesn’t question our fraudulent presidential election either!
Hats off to Dennis, he is a likeable, principled guy... therefore he could never be President!

Why have we lowered ourselves to choices between tweedledum and tweedledumber? Most Americans could have done better than Bush or Kerry at the debates. Most Americans could come up with a better plan for getting our of Iraq. Why do we accept such idiocy for our presidential candidates? The president is supposed to be the best we have to offer, which would be say... Dennis Kucinich. We must demand more for our country. Our forefathers are rolling in their graves.

Get rid of these 2 party system, they seem to team up together. The lobbyism does the rest.
Bush is only a gallions-figur in the overall political game. He represent mediocracy and thererfore
the simple messages he provides to the masses work so well.
There is also the wrong kind of solidarity in messages like: support the troops, or united we
stand. For what? Dictatorship? Against human rights and tolerance?
The major press can be boycotted, that will teach them to go back to independent, fact oriented
reporting. Press conglomerates like Murdoch’s or GE, to name a could be cut back by using
existing American law.

H. L. Mencken explained it a long time ago (he died in 1956):
"As democracy is perfected, the office of President represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day, the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron."

"I think the resistance is bigger than the US military in Iraq. I think the resistance is more than 200,000 people," Iraqi intelligence service director General Mohamed Abdullah Shahwani said
imo, this sounds like something that may be used as an excuse to send more US troops into the quagmire. more troops = more bullets, humvees and mouths to feed. in other words, more profit for the war profiteers.
6 January 2005, 00:53
In my humble opinion, the resistance in Iraq is fabricated and maintained by Bush and his advisers. As long as there is a war in Iraq the Bush and his buddies are doing very well - they can win any election, let alone the fact that this war is a golden goose for his masters. US spends about 300M a day in Iraq. This money goes in someones pocket after being taken out from the tax payers one. And the same tax payer is voting for this guy? I don’;t think so. But, if I were Bush I would maintain the war as long as possible - a lot of profit comes out of it, right?

The ultimate reason why America cannot give up in Iraq is the fact that if they gave up or quit now, the entire plan to control the middle east would become bogged down in legal battles on the entire validity of the war in Iraq and American war crimes, The controllers in the worlds financial markets would not have their way according to the big global plan devised by Thomas P.M. Barnett and adopted by Paul Wolfowitz in 1993.
This plan has terrible implications for the people throughout the world who conciously deny the globalisation plan.
THEY WANT TO KILL YOU!
The target number is 80% of the global population will be killed to allow the remaining 20% to control the earths resources and the remaining slaves to cater to their wants and needs.
For reference and verification of this, please read the "Project for the New American Century’s" global plan entitled "Rebuilding Americas Defenses" written by Paul Wolfowitz or the book by Thomas P.M. Barnett’s book entitled "The Pentagon’s New War".
Witin these pages and documents are all of the plans of the U.S. Governments plan to dominate the middle easts resources to facilitate the perpetual war plan to eventually dominate the entire planet.

Howard Dean was even more on track and never stood down from his position that the Iraq war was wrong. But he was, I believe, even shorter than Kucinich!

http://rutlandherald.com/hdean/51796 Dean says Iraq war would be a long one August 21, 2002
The Associated Press
MONTPELIER —— Gov. Howard Dean says a U.S. attack on Iraq could lead to American troops being on the ground in the country for a decade.
President Bush would have to meet two criteria before he ordered a U.S. invasion, Dean said Sunday during a presidential campaign trip to New Hampshire.
“The first is, he has to show the American people, as President Kennedy did in the Cuban missile crisis, that there’s evidence (Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein) has either atomic or biological weapons and can deliver them,” Dean said. “So far he has not made that case. So where’’s the threat? We need to see that evidence.”
In a presidential campaign trip to New Hampshire on Sunday, [August 18, 2002] Dean was asked several times about the Bush administration’s potential plans to attack Iraq.
Dean says if that happens, America must be prepared for a 10-year conflict in the most dangerous region of the world.
“We also have to be honest about how long we’re going to be there. We’re going to have American troops on the ground in Iraq for 10 years,” Dean said. “If we’re not honest about that, then I don’t think the president ought to have the right to make the decision to go into a war with Iraq because the American people ought to be told ahead of time what that’s going to mean to us.”

Editorial: Where are Democrats when questioning needed on Iraq war?
Thank goodness for 19 members of the House including Rep. Tammy Baldwin, D-Madison, who last week spoke out against a unilateral pre-emptive strike in unambiguous terms.
Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, the leader of the anti-war group, spoke even more unequivocally than Baldwin. He was quoted by the newspaper as saying: “We are here today representing the millions of people who are against this unjustified unwarranted and illegal war.”

The values of Americans neo -lib-con whatever is what really makes America so united in its division. America thinks and behave as though it must have its way on all of creation and all of creation must heal. Well iraq is the tough dog that wouldn’t heal. Alas you’ve got it coming.
Fight on Iraqis ! fight with all your might and repulse the invador so that they never could/would comit such a hidious crime again..invading another’s land.
After Iraq is Israel. They got it all wrong...it wouldn’t be Syria nor Iran nor NK it will be the US over and over until She heals....what a criminal history.
4 January 2005, 16:53
Dean was bait for the kerry switch. He was a setup, a ’fiery anti-war candidate’ to draw in the anti-war money and movement then bail and support the skull and bones pro-war candidate when the time came. Dean opposed the war, but now he agrees that we can’t ’cut and run’. Anti-war my ass, he is a pro-establishment goon, a cointel-pro stooge to make you apathetic towards the war.
"Even Howard Dean says we have to stay in Iraq, and he was anti-war, so it must be true." Wake up to a new depth of lies and distortion- many ’progressives’ you think you can trust are just part of the fake left.
4 January 2005, 04:34
Isn’t that the ever lovin’ truth? It may surprise people to know there are plenty of military people in Iraq who do not support their missions political cause, but they have an obligation to fullfill or go to jail. I have family who supported this war and have the nerve to tell me they will "pray for my son." I can barely tolerate the presence of these people now, so I avoid family functions. I know one couple on the verge of divorce over this-they are worlds apart on this issue. W you’re a divider, no uniter.
I did not support this war from the first time W publicly began to beat his war drum and not just because my 19 and 22 year olds are reservists-one in the National Guard. I studied terrorism and war as an undergrad and third world cultures was required since my education is fairly recent-obviously not at Yale back in W’s day..he sure could use a lesson...Anyway, there were valid reasons not to begin this ’war of choice’. Historical, economic, political, cultural and human cost reasons, for starters. France, Germany and other allies gave quite a few good reasons not to do it-so did the real CIA. The costs associated with such a long distance war were prohibitive, thus Rummy’s theory a ’lighter, leaner force’- that just doesn’t work in practice. The "conservatives" take all of this on, plus Afghanistan, and do this while running a huge deficit? Iraqi oil was going to pay for it all, remember? Good one-same class as the "mushroom cloud" comment.
It’s insane of neocons to mess with our REAL national security forces and equipment being taken out of THIS country, for God’s sake... leaving us sitting ducks, not even guarding the damn borders- to go and fight their wars of conquest, getting fat like blood sucking leeches in a coroners office. Leaving the rest of us clean up the crime scene of Iraq and the blood of innocents from both countries now soaking the American flag. Then we’ll start paying on the bill that our unborn great-grandkids will maybe pay off. These people have no shame and I seriously question their love or loyalty of country. To hold them selves up as Christians with the corner on morality is a joke, but the dumb people still don’t get it. Sigh.
Is it any wonder the prison tourture scandels happened-these people have given the green light that we get to be the bad guys now too, as bad as we want or can be-yet we still get to claim our status as the worlds good guys. Toooo stupid to realize it doesn’t work that way. They have completely screwed all the rest of us and what shreds are left of our democracy. Let’s all pray God’s wrath lands on them alone.
4 January 2005, 09:25
This is clear-headed (angry, to be sure, but rightly so) argument based on facts.
I have had this recent feeling of hope. I think Bush really lost that election (take your pick) and big time. No way did so many people vote this time.
And you are right about the media: they cover every angle, there’s always what amounts to an excuse, a gratuitous explanation.
Keep up the good work. Sometimes, maybe only in a truly crazy world, pointing out the obvious really is clever. Wow, whoda thunk?
Peace and love. Remember those.
5 January 2005, 12:06
They’re not doing very well are they ? They lost a ’war’ on drugs, and now they’re losing a ’war’ on terror.
However, when scrutinised, there never was a ’war’ on drugs, it’s just media spin to appease an indignant middle class. The reality is they supply the drugs (see other postings on this site), and don’t give a fuck, or actively encourage, black on black crack killings.
Same about the ’war’ on terror/Iraq. They couldn’t give a rats arse about Latino/black/white working class kids being maimed or killed killing ’unpeople’/arabs for the likes of Haliburton and the stealing of natural resources for a greedy few. Still, I suppose that’s their christianity in all its glory.

To the Bigot and your large circle of friends,
Thanks for looking within yourself to come clean with your honest truths. You are why I hate living here in the safe suburbs, it seems to be where you congregate. Now that you openly acknowledge your bigotry, ask yourself why you are afraid of people who are different from you. Fear of the unknown? Grow up.
I laughed aloud when the Ohio courts allowed Republicans to "challenge" voters registration at the polls, I knew those cowards wouldn’t dare drive their $60,000 cars from the ’burbs into the ’hood and challenge the "black man" on his right to vote-so they just gave them less voting machines instead. Apparently, Mr. Bigot, you and your kind never saw the old commercial that said "There are two places race doesn’t matter....they show the newborn nursery of a hospital and the grave yard....
It is your brand of poison that is killing the world, causing war and making it miserable for future generations. Change or die off like the rest of the dinosaurs.

Well to begin, lets retract for a minute through Amerikkkan history or shall I say American Hypocrisy. Unfortunatley there is a majority of americans who are just so misinformed they still believe that there are only"pockets" of insurgents resisting the worlds greatest army. Have we forgot about the vietnamese, the japanese and so on who have resisted occupation and have beat this so called mighty army if it were not for napalm and the A-bomb that help put the U.S over the edge. It’s amazing that we also forget the "Patriots" who also resisited the mighty British empire, I’d bet my paycheck that the British aristocrats called these men seperatist, for not wanting to heel to mighty Briton. What say you then of the Iraqi People who are resisting Amerikkan occupation are they insuregents, seperatist, or Patriots who are defending there country and the dignity for self determination. Amerikka is the only nation to drop a nuclear bomb, it’s the only nation to have bases in over 120 countries! it’s the only nation that has systematically enslaved a whole race of people(africans) and nearly decimated another(Native Indians) Everywhere this nation has gone it has plundered natrual resources, oppresed the poor, all in the name of FREEDOM AND DEMOCRACY. As history always repeats itself, Rome fell so shall the Amerikkan empire. This nation crimes and genocide has not and will not be surpassed by any other nation known to mankind. The key to freeing some sleeping amerikkkan’s minds is information. The mass media is controlled and censored by this ruling elite of devils and masons so we must counter this attack of misinformation and deception. World news is seldomed cover in U.S mass media only through the gift of sattelite were my eyes opened and it is through this medium we shall reach the masses. If 70% of the U.S households contained this then the people will receive real uncensored news, moreover from this the seeds of Revolution can be planted. I am an african american college student here in the U Pay Way and stand in solidarity with the Iraqi, Palestinian, Cuban, Zimbabwean, and all who are fighting for freedom in this cruel capitalist world. Apologies for any mispelled words I’ve grown accustom to spell check. PEACE AND LOVE TO ALL.

When more Iraqis die everyday from insurgents than Americans, I say that makes the insurgents unpatriotic.
Some Iraqis want peace and democracy. Some Iraqis want despotism and radical Islam.
I would say the former are patriots, and the later are insane.
The former are being killed by the hundreds to thousands.
The latter are killing by the hundreds to thousands.
Take your pick, whose side are you on???
Thats what Blair asked, who are you with, those Iraqi’s fighting for Democracy, or those Iraqi/Saudi/Yemeni/Syrian/British/French/Sudanese/Jordanian/Afghani/Pakistani muslims fighting for authoritarianism, oppps I meant true Islam.
You cannot hope for the Iraqi’s and Americans to fail, and also hope for good in this world.
Take two seconds to think what victory for Zargawi/Bin Ladin will mean for the future.
Besides a bunch of petty ass thumb twirlers patting themselves on the back saying I told you so...
Things would not look to good with Iraq in the hands of Islamofacists.
So take your pick, Democracy or Islamofacism.
Patriots or Murderers.
6 January 2005, 06:02
We do not even have a democracy here in this fucked up country. Would anyone with a brain believe one word from Blair, Bush, or the Fox, et.al. news channels that pass for the media, when really they are just puppets of the propaganda ministry.
Personally I think that the reason that many Americans support the insurgents is because we know that they are just freedom fighters that want us to get the fuck out of their country as any American or Brit would if the Iraqis had attacked us for NO REASON....are you forgetting that, that we attacked them for no reason..not one Iraqi had ever hurt one American, and Bushco’s war is all based on lies and we know the truth since it is so obvious except to the very stupid that the oil men’s greed is why we are there and Saddam used to be our man. Propaganda all is phony and this war is the phoniest bullshit to come down the pike since Vietnam.
7 January 2005, 11:45
Well said !!

I could not stop laughing at this asinine statements:

WOW! WE HAVE REAL RED STATE REDNECK HERE!
I MEAN, YOU MUST BE PLUGGED IN PERMANENCE ON FOX NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!
TELL ME, ELMO, IF THE U.S. ARE ALL ABOUT DEMOCRACY HOW COMES THAT THEY SUPPORTED AND FINANCED AND DEFENDED EACH AND EVERY DICTATORSHIP THAT SUITED THEIR NEEDS?
fRANCISCO FRANCO, PINOCHET, MARCOS, SOMOZA, NORIEGA, BATISTA, THE SOUTH VIETNAM, THE GREEK COLONELS.....ETC
Bin Laden and Zarqawi just want freedom for their people to live according to their traditions and religion...and if you want their resources you have to pay their price....it’s a new idea called ’capitalism’....who has the goods sets the price.
It seems that the fascist u.s. have reverted to the era of colonial conquest instead.
Kull.
16 April 2005, 03:32
Kull, if you are a regular poster here, you have lots of reading to do. The Saddam/Bin Laden connection put out by the propaganda ministry has been throughly debunked and it is time for you to get up to speed. To continue to post this tired old shit is a waste of everyone’s time and an insult to the intelligence of the rest of us, so peddle your crap somewhere else, may I suggest a GOP site, the republipukes love this kind of shit, they feed off of it and thrive on it, but trolling here is ALWAYS rebuffed.
