Three Dead American soldiers in Iraq
Iraq is George Bush’s waterloo and he is dragging all of us with him into this black hole of deceit, hubris, humiliation and heartache : Allen L Roland
7/30/05, ICH, The Muqtada al-Sadr followers say they have collected the signatures of one million Iraqis asking that U.S. and other Coalition troops leave the country
immediately.
In his sermon at an East Baghdad mosque, Shaikh Abdul Zahra al-Suwaidi told the congregation, "We obtained the Iraqi signatures demanding the withdrawal of the occupation troops as asked for by Sayyed Moqtada Sadr . . . The goal of this petition is to show the world the rejection by Iraqis of foreigners in Iraq . . ."
This is an update of one my most popular weblog posts in January of this year under the same title.
We are not wanted in Iraq, and we are now hunted, bombed and hated by a growing legion of freedom fighters . Over 50% of Americans feel Bush’s war and occupation of Iraq is a FAILURE.
And, indeed, they are correct !
Our illegal occupation of Iraq is a total failure with over 1800 Americans killed, over 15,000 wounded, over 30,000 hospitalized , approximately 100,000 innocent Iraqi’s killed and wounded and an American public becoming more sceptical of it’s increasing human and financial costs.
The New Republic reports today that leaked drafts of the Iraq Constitution call for the application of Islamic edicts, not civil law, in matters relating to marriage, divorce and inheritance and adds " The idea that 1800 American troops died so Iraqi women can enjoy the full blessings of religious medievalism ought to disturb the Bush administration and the American public ."
Bush cannot emotionally deal with the FAILURE word and, indeed, asked Sec of State Powell to leave several months ago because he told Bush that " We are losing the war in Iraq ."
Bush cannot answer the question why our soldiers are dying in increasing numbers because the reason has nothing to do with hating Democracy and everything to do with hating our illegal occupation.
We are dealing with massive denial here and Bush has now replaced the fictitious menace of Iraq with the equally fictitious menace of an impending bankrupt Social Security system.
But let’s get something straight about Iraq .
This past election in Iraq was not about Democracy in action that election was all about reproducing the US appointed Iraq Interim Government inorder to prolong the occupation and further incite sectarian and ethnic conflicts, which are accelerating dramatically.
As long as there is continued strife, there is justification for U.S. troops and the 14 to 17 military bases that are currently under construction in Iraq.
We are in Iraq to stay so stop wishful thinking. Only impeachment or a change in Congressional leadership can stop the Cheney led neocons now.
It’s really very Orwellian remember Eternal War for Never Accomplished Peace.
That’s why we had those sham elections earlier this year the reproduced Interim Government would claim legitimacy and cement into place Exec Order # 13303 ( giving full oil rights to major U.S. Oil companies ) as well as legitimizing Paul Bremer’s blanket privitization decrees which he enacted before he left Iraq .
It was and still is a big sting folks and Bush wants to avert our attention with his Social Security histronics or perhaps, if desperate, a war with Iran so we won’t note the incredible costs of his humiliating failure in Iraq.
That’s why our soldiers are dying .
The Iraqi’s know full well the impossibility of holding free and fair elections . Their pseudo government is currently writing a stage managed constitution while the people suffer under a brutal and illegal occupation where their intrastructure is still in shambles and unemployment is well over 50%.
Iraqis have seen virtually no evidence of improvement in their homes, streets and neighborhoods and they rightfully blame U.S and Iraqi government corruption.
This growing army of Resistance fighters are freedom fighters to their fellow Iraqis and their numbers are increasing every day from within, not without.
WE CANNOT CONQUER IRAQ
You want an analogy to what we are doing in Iraq?
How about this letter from William Pitt to the House of Lords on November 18th, 1777.
It’s entitled An English Plea For Peace With The American
Colonies ;
" My Lords, this ruinous and ignominious situation, where we cannot act with success, nor suffer with honour, calls upon us to remonstrate in the strongest and loudest language of truth, to rescue the ear of Majesty from the delusions which surround it. You cannot, I venture to say, you CANNOT conquer America.
What is your present situation there? We do not know the worst; but we know that in three campaigns we have done nothing and suffered much. You may swell every expense, and strain every effort, still more extravagantly; accumulate every assistance you can beg or borrow; traffic and barter with every pitiful German Prince, that sells and sends his subjects to the shambles of a foreign country: your efforts are forever vain and impotent-doubly so from this mercenary aid on which you rely; for it irritates to an incurable resentment the minds of your enemies, to overrun them with the sordid sons of rapine and of plunder, devoting them and their possessions to the rapacity of hireling cruelty! If I were an American, as I am an Englishman, while a foreign troop was landed in my country, I never would lay down my arms! -Never! Never! Never! "
And the Iraqi’s will never lay down their arms for that very same reason.
Iraq is George Bush’s waterloo and he is dragging all of us with him into this black hole of deceit, hubris, humiliation and heartache.

Another 7 marines killed in Iraq today....good....they all voted for Bush now they can all take a bullet for him. Wish the rest of his cowardly supporters would hurry and get their asses over to Iraq and put up or shut up about how great the troops are and how they all support them.

Over 1 million people want the US out of Iraq...over 1/2 million people in the US have signed the Impeachment Petition against W.
We have at least 3 fixed elections, Iraq has 1.
This group that call themselves THE ADMINISTRATION will never pull out of Iraq because they are in it for the OIL, and money. Haliburton is making millions, why would they want to end this.
It has never been about weapons or Democracy... It has always been about $$$!
Soldiers need to rise up and see this farce and protest against being sent to Iraq over and over again. They are being killed and maimed and inhaling depleted Uranium, so even if they think they are returning safe and sound they may have chronic illness’ related to being in Iraq. What they are doing is Orwellian. Everything is the opposite of what it should be and they would be happy to be at war forever, as it keeps the money flowing and the people distracted from REAL issues.
Don’t ever feel that the US public is in support of this war or W., WE ARE NOT!! The media just does not cover our protests and outrage!!

Bush cannot pull out of Iraq. His entire neo-con strategy was based on aggressivity, preemption, shock-and-awe and lies in order that his True Believer Corporate Republicans can dominate the world. All neo-con action is based on their cowardly sneak attacks on small nations, to swallow them and their resources, and gradually progress toward world dominion. I kid you not.
He is IN Iraq. He has given the oil to his corporations. He is constructing a dozen huge military bases from which to threaten and launch invasions against other Middle Eastern countries. He is building the largest US Embassy in the world which will have thousands of neocons, like the Black Angel of Death Condi Rice, to force everyone to bow to their commands. He has installed the most innocuous puppet government and he has them pass legislation which exempts him and his army and his contractors and companies from any legal action against them...now or forever.
If you think he is going to declare an end to the war, and thus end his WAR TIME PRESIDENCY by which he can violate whichever laws he think are inconvenient, then think again. As a
True coward he is bloodthirsty for other people’s blood. Now that we have nearly 2,000 dead he simply says, "It was worth it." Can you think of a greater scoundrel in our times?
No, he is not about to simply walk away from Iraq. He still thinks by killing Muslims that he will control the country, but does not seem to realize that for every death he causes, the Muslims will exact revenge with a dozen or more Iraqi patriots and their sympathizers against a vicious intruder who unncessarily caused a war by outright lies.

He CAN be impeached or indicted.....that WILL cure the problem of Dubya running America into the ground. Hoo-Raa all the way to Arlington, soldier....Dubya doesn’t give a DAMN about your life...he doesn’t even care if you have enough bullets to defend yourself in a war zone. Use your head for something besides a butting ram....
Read more from an American military family member who is against this war for sane logical reasons:

Yessir. Remember that saying from the Vietnam war? "War is good business- invest your son". Some things never change. The reason that the greedy and ruthless get to the top is that everyone else is decent enough not to be so consumed by wishes of ultimate power, that they don’t see that there are those who will stop at nothing, and by the time they wake up, they realize they’ve been had, and it’s already too late.
