Q. Since last Wednesday, the Israeli Army has been imposing a siege on Lebanon and bombarding the country as a result of the abduction of two of its soldiers and the killing of seven others by a Lebanese Hezbollah commando unit. Israel’s reaction was predictable, even in its disproportion. What are the political and strategic reasons that can be seen behind this action by Hezbollah?

Lebanon’s Al Manar TV Targeted Free Speech "Marked for Death" by Trish Schuh
After years of asymmetric attacks on the First Amendment- assassinating journalists, surveilling dissent, and censoring the free flow of information- the Democracy Mukhabarat rules. Using national security to prohibit scrutiny or prosecution, the Bush administration instead labels opposition media as the criminal, declaring the Fourth Estate to be the Fourth Front. "Full spectrum information dominance" equates (…) -

Students Call NZ To Speak Out On Israel Aggression
The University of Auckland’s Students for Justice in Palestine call on the New Zealand government to pressure Israel to end the callous bombing raids in occupied Gaza and nearby Lebanon that has resulted in the death of civilians on both sides. The international community has failed yet again to address the core issues of the Middle East conflict by only calling for ’restraint’ alone, thereby paving the way for another regional conflict. One Minute a Day to Create Peace
16 July 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
3 commentsThe amount of violence in the world is threatening all of us. It is time we use our power to create Peace. How can we do this? By taking one minute a day to generate feelings of Peace within ourselves and then focusing that energy upward and outward, we will cause a shift to move us from violence and conflict to Peace.
Why would this work? Science has shown us that we are all producing spurts of energy all the time through our emotions and thoughts. This energy, though we do not (…) -

Following the bombings of Beirut by Israel, there is a danger that the US sponsored Middle East war, which is at present characterized by three distinct war theaters (Afghanistan, Palestine and Iraq) will escalate and extend to the entire Middle East - Central Asian region.
The bombings of Lebanon are part of a carefully planned military agenda. They are not spontaneous acts of reprisal by Israel. They are acts of provocation.
The attacks (…) -
Israel prepares to drag Syria & Iran into war
16 July 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
How Israel mistook an "aircraft rigged with explosives" for a missile, as the Associated Press reports, is not explained. However, blaming Iran certainly fits the picture, as both Israel and the United States are trying to drag Iran and Syria into Israel’s invasion of Lebanon and thus widen the conflict, as planned.

Attacks Are Part of US/Israel Strategy

1 commentIsrael, with U.S. support, intends to resist calls for a cease-fire and continue a longer-term strategy of punishing Hezbollah, which is likely to include several weeks of precision bombing in Lebanon, according to senior Israeli and U.S. officials.
For the United States, the broader goal is to strangle the axis of Hezbollah, Hamas, Syria and Iran, which the Bush administration believes is pooling resources to change the strategic playing field in the Middle East, U.S. officials say. (…) -

All night I heard the jets, whispering high above the Mediterranean. It lasted for hours, little fireflies nthat were watching Beirut, waiting for dawn perhaps, because it was then that they descended.
They came first to the little village of Dweir near Nabatiya in southern Lebanon where an Israeli plane dropped a bomb on to the home of a Shia Muslim cleric.
He was killed. So was his wife. So were eight of his children. One was decapitated. All they could find of a baby (…)
