by Charlie Smith
Serving tea in her kitchen in her home on Vancouver’s West Side, Gail Davidson seems more like a friendly neighbour than a wild-eyed revolutionary. Davidson, a grandmother, laughs easily, enjoys gardening, and speaks with a remarkable absence of egotism. In this setting, it’s hard to comprehend that she is a key figure in an international campaign to hold U.S. President George W. Bush accountable for (…)

by Lisa Hoffman The votes of at least 1 in 4 U.S. soldiers and overseas voters in last fall’s election never were counted. That’s the conclusion of a recent report by the National Defense Committee, a private, pro-military organization that surveyed local election offices across the country about the number of absentee votes cast and counted in the Nov. 3 election.
In all, more than 30,000 of the 131,000 absentee ballots sent by troops and expatriates to 760 local elections offices (…) -

6 commentsBoos And Catcalls Greet Bush At St. Peter’s Der Spiegel April 08, 2005 Rome: It was a historic moment: George W. Bush was the first president of the U.S. to participate in burying a Pope - despite his controversy with the Pontiff over the Iraq War. When his image flashed on a huge outdooor TV screen, the multitude gathered for the funeral of Pope John Paul II had a pointedly unpleasant message to communicate to the U.S. president. Loud booing was heard, when on a large television (…)

The report of the "Commission on the Intelligence Capabilities of the United States regarding WMD" has established that truth is a casualty long before a war is embarked upon.
The two points that Donald Rumsfeld stressed upon vigorously many times when it came to the question of Iraq and its weapons of mass destruction was that, "lack of (…) -

Compare the protests- which one looks like the ’voice of the people’ to you?
The protest reflected frustration with the U.S. (…) -

White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan says President Bush was "pleased" with the latest investigation that blames CIA analysts for the false information that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction.
That’s the reason Bush invaded Iraq, remember? Once again it’s those low-level bureaucrats who took us into war. And once again a panel of "don’t rock the boat" establishment figures has let the commander in chief off the hook.
I asked McClellan if the president was upset (…) -
