I suppose the second biggest mystery about the occupation of Iraq - after the fact that the United States is spending billions of dollars to build a series of giant permanent military bases in Iraq without any mainstream media coverage (the complete lack of mainstream media coverage is no surprise) - is the fact that apparently no one - not the media, not the Pentagon, not the learned commentators - seems to have the slightest idea of the nature of the Iraqi resistance. The insurgents are (…)

Friday 27 May 2005
Now we know where they stand. The historic debate and vote on the Lynn Woolsey amendment.
On the evening of May 25, the US House of Representatives considered an amendment offered by Representative Lynn Woolsey (D-CA) calling for an exit strategy from Iraq. Amendment No. 26 simply stated:
"It is the sense of Congress that the president should -

AIPAC has been given the go ahead to replace the U.S. congress
27 May 2005May 27, 2005 APee News
AIPAC has been given the go ahead to replace the U.S. congress in order to make the government run more efficiently— for the State of Israel, lawmakers agreed. Senate majority leader Tom Delay announced the plan, "We think this will be the best way to funnel US tax dollars to Israel without getting bogged down in pesky debates in congress over who gets what: they get it all!". Passage of the amendment had few detractors, except for the lone voices of a Ron Paul or a (…) -

As Delivered
"Thank you. Thank you. Thank you very much. Thank you. Thank you, Lonny.
Welcome to Washington for this extraordinary AIPAC conference. I’m told that the attendance far surpasses any other conference, and it’s always been one of the biggest gatherings that Washington hosts every year. So I congratulate you for being here in these numbers with this energy and enthusiasm.
I also thank my friend Bernice, who has served so well (…) -
AIPAC Wants You to Die in
27 May 2005May 25, 2005
As a primary example how AIPAC runs the foreign policy of the United States, consider Dana Milbank’s AIPAC’s Big, Bigger, Biggest Moment, published in the Washington Post. Milbank tells us: at the annual meeting of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, held in Washington recently, the pro-Israel "political action committee" (or rather a political bribery and intimidation, to say nothing of espionage, committee or more accurately racket) is "here to stay" (according (…) -
11 days left before war with Iran
27 May 2005Are we going to stand idly by as more sovereign countries are attacked? This farce has nothing to do with getting rid of nuclear weapons in the Middle East or else the US would shut down the billions of dollars of aid that Israel receives. Money that is funneled into its massive chemical, biological and nuclear arsenal, which is turning Israel into a dominant superpower. Their military & political might remains unchecked. They are in firm control of the world’s remaining superpower, the (…)

The Insufferable Silence
27 May 2005Anthony Wade - www.OpEdNews.com May 24, 2005
How much is enough America? How much is enough before we stand up collectively and say, “No more”. America has become sedated, tranquilized by a corporate media that keeps the truth from coming to light on an everyday basis. Anesthetized to the point that when the vilest acts perpetrated in the war on terror are being carried out by us, we just flip the channel to see if we can see who is left on American Idol. What has happened to our (…) -
Cuba is a warm and caring hand of solidarity
27 May 2005By Erasmo Magoulas
In the vast majority of developing countries science is a commodity in the process of disappearing. Government policies in this area, rather than investing money and resources to increase areas of research, which would benefit the majority of their population, take away money and resources from science in order to fulfill the requirements of the International Monetary Fund, which is, pay the immoral external debt.
Developed countries are not in any better shape. A huge (…) -
’Father’ of Malaysia: US is as guilty of terrorism as the hijackers
27 May 2005Mahathir Mohamad, modern Malaysia’s founding father and moderate Islam’s self-styled champion, denounced the Bush administration yesterday as a "rogue regime" bent on terrorising innocent civilians. He also said he was disappointed that Tony Blair, who he called a "proven liar", had won re-election after joining the US invasion of Iraq.
Reflecting the rage felt across the Muslim world over abuse scandals in Afghanistan and Guantánamo Bay, and continuing violence in Palestine and Iraq, Mr (…) -
Fake Left Anti-War Groups Out Themselves
27 May 2005You know, I hate to be accusatory, but there comes a time when you’ve got to call people out on their bogus logic. This incredible smoking gun memo just came out, now we KNOW that Bush Lied to start the war and that all the WMD threats were bogus, the neocons were ’fixing the facts’ to sell it to the gullible American public. Why aren’t all honest members of Congress raising hell? Troops are still dying everyday- dying so Bush the Liar can save face- we need to stop this NOW. Immediate (…)
