DSK, the case of the century! Provided the trial takes place ...

DSK’s lawyers want the charges to be droppedbefore any trial takes place. Nafissatou’s lawyers want that the trial be held! I think that we are more likely to know the truth if the criminal trialtakes place. The civil trial will perhaps help us to see more clearly in this affair even if the criminal trial does not take place due to the pressures exerted on Cyrus Vance (By the way, if Nafissatou was sexually abused, which seems more than likely, it is quite normal usual and not "venal" to seek some material compensation .) Finally, the trial Banon in France should complete the picture, if the U.S. Justice failed to uncover the truth!

The question is to determine if the potential next president of France is a criminal or not. It is difficult to understand those who say that it takes us away from the real issues!

More importantly, the question is to determine whether a Black working woman, can defend her rights when she is confronted to the arrogance of big power and big money. There may be some gray areas in the life of Nafissatou, but this is beyond the point. If DSK, in spite of his long history of established misdeeds, is right in this particular case, it is hard to understand why he wants to avoid at all costs to appear in court to prove his innocence instead of remaining forever suspect!

It seems to me that, whatever our presumptions for or against DSK, we should join all democrats, regardless of considerations of gender, color, social class, or political party, and demand that the criminal trial opens on August 23 in New York.

  • I will be following this with GREAT interest!
I hope you can report here regularily.

On behalf of ALL women service workers worldwide we send Nafissatou strength!

Do report if it turns out to be true the accused rapist said not a word when ecorted away from a flight/ off a plane. A man of his stature would never allow this if innocent and would respond with the usual bluster and threats his type uses when inconvenienced.
