3 December 2009 par (Open-Publishing)
On the evening of Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009, antiwar activists gathered in a light rain, at the War Memorial Building, in Baltimore, MD, just opposite the City Hall Plaza. The purpose of the demonstration was to protest President Barack Obama’s LBJ-Vietnam-War-like decision to escalate the conflict in Afghanistan. He has ordered 30,000 more U.S. troops to that country, which is well known as a “graveyard of imperial powers.” I talked with Jim Baldridge, who is with the “Veterans for Peace” and (…)

2 December 2009 par (Open-Publishing)
On Tuesday evening, Dec. 1, 2009, a spirited antiwar rally was held in front of the White House, led by activists from the ANSWER Coalition, Code Pink, and other Peace and Justice groups. Its purpose was to object to President Barack Obama’s reckless decision, (shades of LBJ’s disastrous Vietnam fiasco), to “expand the war in Afghanistan.” For some historical perspective on how the “unwarranted influence” of the powerful Military-Industrial Complex continues to dominate American society, (…)
