John C. Bonifaz, founder and general counsel of the National Voting Rights Institute, presented this speech before the "Fight for Democracy" rally in Columbus, Ohio, on December 4, 2004:
We serve as co-counsel for presidential candidates David Cobb and Michael Badnarik in their demand for a full recount of all votes cast in Ohio for President in the 2004 general election.
In a democracy, votes must count and every citizen’s vote must be (…)

1 commentOhio Election Investigation Thwarted by Surprise Blackwell Order
Dayton, Ohio Friday December 10, 2004
On Friday December 10 two certified volunteers for the Ohio Recount team assigned to Greene County were in process recording voting information from minority precincts in Greene County, and were stopped mid-count by a surprise order from Secretary of State Blackwell’s office. The Director Board of Elections stated that “all voter records for the state of Ohio were “locked-down,” and now (…) -
Quantum Physics: ElectShun2004 NOT Written in Stone, Keep Working to FIX It!
11 December 2004 par (Open-Publishing)
summary:
We have entranced ourselves and fallen under a self-created spell if we imagine that the past exists in a solid, objective way. To quote Wheeler “It is wrong to think of that past as ‘already existing’.....the past has no existence except as it is recorded in the present.”
When we become convinced that the past exists in a solid way, we solidify it in our imagination as being that particular way, which will thereby create compelling evidence that proves the rightness of our (…) -

As the Electoral College prepares to certify President Bush’s re-election on Monday, concerns persist about the integrity of the nation’s voting system - particularly in Ohio, where details continue to emerge of technology failures, voter confusion and overcrowded polling stations in minority and poor neighborhoods.
Few mainstream politicians dispute Bush’s victory, and the incumbent’s 3.5 million-vote margin nationwide was wider than any of the reported problems, which (…) -

Why history demands an Ohio revote
10 December 2004 par (Open-Publishing)
4 commentsOpponents of a recount and revote in Ohio say the first won’t change the election’s outcome and the second is unwarranted. But history demands them both.
Lets deal with the recount first. Various Republican minions complain that a full recount of the Ohio vote will cost upwards of $1.5 million and won’t shift the state from George W. Bush to John Kerry.
But that money represents less than 0.1% of the $200 billion minimum figure the Bush Administration will spend to "bring democracy to (…) -

Election fraud or just suspicions?
10 December 2004 par (Open-Publishing)
6 commentsIf the United States were a Third World country, our Nov. 2 election would not pass certification by international monitors. As former President Carter has explained on National Public Radio, we lack a central, nonpartisan election commission to guarantee fair and equal treatment of all voters nationwide, our candidates do not receive free and equal access to the media to deliver their message, voting procedures are not uniform throughout the county, and there is not a "paper trail" (…)

We need Congress to go to Ohio Now
10 December 2004 par (Open-Publishing)
4 commentsWe must not adjust to tyranny and gloat that imperfection in voting irregularities and suppression tactics are reasonable expectations. They are not. Too many world changing events have hinged on one vote for us to be cavalier when thousands are systematically disenfranchised.
I am here today to make a moral appeal for a thorough investigation - including forensic computer analysis of the machines - in Ohio.
(This is an abridged version of Rev. Jackson’s statement and comments at the end (…)
